What we are eating, and what's eating us!!!! Saturday!!
Linda,
I didn't sleep too well last night. I decided to stop taking Ambien because apparently I've been getting up at night and eating and don't even remember it. All I know is that food's missing from the fridge (4 SF pudding cups disappeared one night) that my husband swears he didn't eat. This is pretty scary. If I can eat while sleeping, what else can I do while sleeping? Drive a car? Yeesh!

Jean!! I am so glad you stopped that medicine!! My doctor gave me 6 to try, and I woke up with food in my lap!!!!! It is a hypnotic!! I woke up with food on me 3 times...GROSS!!(Remember I sleep in a recliner, a bed would have been more gross)! Yeah, they say some may drive and or gamble...great stuff huh??
My doctor put me on elavil for sleeping, the generic of it, she gave me 50mg, but 40 is enough I have found, for I rise at 3:30ish.
It is the best stuff I have had for sleeping, and is an old drug, I get the generic it is called amitriptyline, it is also known as the "happy" pill as it was marketed as an anti-depressant, but they found it helps several things.
Now I say "keep your new crap and give me the old tried and true"!
Then I go to Web MD, and read up on it, before I fill it.
The best to you today dear, and to your mom,
Yes, elavil (amitriptyline) is great for sleep problems. The dr gave it to me when i had my sleep studies done. I was never going into REM sleep but boy do I dream now!
I also take 5mg of Ambien off and on - depends on how sleep deprived I feel. Sorry to hear that you and Jean have had that side effect with it. I've heard that a lot of people do that, but luckily I've not had that problem (knock on wood)

Hiya Donna, the elavil knocks me out fast and I dream now too! My sleep study said I had a sleep disorder too..not apnea, but the rem thing. I am so lucky to have a good doctor, I had trouble with my sleep for ages before she hit on this for me.
Happy to hear the Ambien does not bother you.
Have a great day,and a wonderful sleep!

Good morning Linda! Ohhh, I sometimes take Ambien, not for a while though...maybe not any more, eating during the night would NOT be a good side effect. I wake up about 2-3 times a night, just think if I was eating each time....whew!!!! Ok, today's plan: B- 3oz smoked salmon, Fit & Light yogurt (wierd combo, but not eaten together) L- 1/2 turkey sandwich & salad D-Chicken & ????. I am going to an Illinois Forum get together this afternoon, everyone is bringing a wls friendly dish so eating should be ok. Paulette
Welcome back Paulette! I hope you enjoyed your anniversary! I read where you said you would eat and walk and walk...LOL..way to go. If ya gonna eat it, move yer arse and burn it off!
