Online schooling...
I was wondering....
Do any of you have any personal knowledge of any kind of online company or organization that can take all of a persons scattered college courses , military schooling, life experiences etc... and transform all of it into some sort of documented college credits? ... or a degree? .... or a list of what you have and what you need for a degree?
Every time I search online for this all I find are a lot of "schools" wanting my money... and no hard information up front. I am just not that trusting I guess...
Thanks... appreciate any leads you can give me...
Mark,
I was going to check out Phoenix On-line. They seem to accept a lot of credit and most colleges have some kind of CLEP programs (life experience). I've heard that Phoenix On-line has offices in most major cities so you can actually talk to a real person. In Connecticut we have one state college (Charter Oak) that will let you earn your degree through them but attend any state colleges near you. Some colleges offer accelerated programs for working people to finish there degrees in a small amount of time at night or on weekends. For the most part you have to sit down with a admissions counselor to get the skinny on what credits they accept and if they have a life experience program. State colleges are usually a good place to start.
Hope this helps.
Bev
Oh and I forgot - most colleges have a minimum amount of credits that you HAVE to earn through them. So if a bachelors degree is 135 credits they might want you to earn at least 75 credits at their institution and will only accept 60 of your credits from other colleges/life experience.
There is no easy way to find this out on-line. As I said previously, you pretty much have to go talk to each colleges admissions office and find out their rules.

Hi Marc. I received a newsletter today from the Navy regarding education benefits. You might be able to acces it here:

Also, there's a site to find "military-friendly schools" here:

I returned to school and worked through the University to test and interview for credit earned for life experience. I got a lot more hours than I needed to complete my undergrad degree. I did have to take a few additional courses required by the "University College" school. I had no trouble getting into graduate school with the degree. When you contact a university or college, they will usually work with you to help bring it all together and get into the program you're interested in. You will have to pay for each hour of credit you receive just as if you had taken the course. So I accepted and paid for only the credits I needed to complete my undergrad degree.
