Fatigue
Hi OFF,
I'm just beginning my journey.....met with the team last week and have begun to follow the protein first, 6 meals a day plan. Anyway, I'm assuming the fatigue I feel is normal .... I'm a teacher and have just gotten out for the summer so I'm always tuckered in June.
Thanks in advance for your help!!
Janelle
Hi Janelle,
One of my best friends when I was a kid was named Janelle, and DH and I are birdwatchers too! What a small world this is.
Congratulations on the beginning of your new life. This plan you're on, are you limited to the quantity you eat? I would assume so. Is this in preparation for your new lifestyle after surgery? If it is, how forward thinking of your team! I mean this in the kindest way. So many of us are seen a couple of times pre-op and given a guidebook to follow, patted on the head and sent on our way!
Most of my teacher friends and clients are just whipped right now, so I'm sure part of your fatigue is being tired from another school year ending. I wouldn't be surprised if part of it is the diet, but hang in there, it will be worth it. Just be thankful that you're out of school, imagine what it would be like if you had to go to work every day?
Take care
Susan
Thanks Susan,
I was impressed with my first meeting. I had attended an informational program given by the surgeon. Last week I met with the nut, exercise person, insurance person, medical ass't for blood work, ekg, etc..., the psych and the surgeon. It was about 5 hours for the entire appointment. The team has me on a eating plan and exercise routine for about 6 weeks. Thanks for the infor .... I assumed it was just my big ole body getting used to the new way of life!!
Janelle
Welcome Janelle! You're embarking on a wonderful, exciting journey to begin your new life! Just getting everything done you got done last week would be exhausting to me. I remember that the increase in protein for me made me feel better than I had in ages. I hope that happens for you, too.
Take care and do what they tell you to do. They do know what they are doing I think!

Janelle, I would say that some of it finally being out of school and the other part of it is your body is getting use to a new way of eating. It is probably thinking "What is going on here? This is a whole different way of feeding me and I am not sure if I like it or not!" Trust me it will get use to it and the added protein will help to give you more energy. Good luck and I think that it is a wonderful way of getting someone ready for surgery.
Welcome Janelle,
The beginning of this process can be overwhelming. So much information, changing your eating habits, adding an exercise routine, PLUS the end of the school year - of course you feel tired.
This will get easier and less draining. It is excellent preparation leading up to WLS. You will be well prepared and the energy will improve.

Wow! You are all wonderful .... thanks so much for the encouragement. I won't feel guilty for napping this afternoon!
I also realized I'm decreasing my caffine per doctor's orders ..... I used to have an entire pot every morning and am now sipping only 2 small cups (no cream) and drinking water instead of iced tea. I did buy some decaf tea so I will brew that today and enjoy that this afternoon.
Although I've posted this before I'll duplicate it if you don't mind ..... My husband of 25 years died 2 1/2 years ago due to complication of MO ..... sleep apena, diabetes, CHF, ..... so I am very motivated to become healthier for our 2 children (20 & 23). With his decreased health, I became more overweight, less active .....
Thanks again for the fabulous support!!
