lump & slow weight loss?
Hi all. I lost some weight while in the hospital. But I've only lost 3 pounds in the first 2 weeks since returning home from hospital. Is this unusual?
I'm probably being short sighted and impatient, but I'd appreciate hearing some of your experiences -- is this unusual? I'm following all the rules and walking a lot.
I'm focusing on healing and recovering strength and stamina.
I had a needle biopsy Friday, but won't get results until Friday (6/20) when I have an appointment with an oncology/surgeon -- a tough time here.

Hi Marilyn, I don't have any advice for you, I haven't had surgery yet, but thought I'd send some support and hugs your way and I'll say a prayer about your biopsy. Paulette
Marilyn, first off I want to let you know that I am still sending prayers up for you and your test results.
Sometimes we have to remember that our bodies have gone through a lot in the time bofore, during and after surgery and needs to kind of take a rest and regroup so to speak. Are you getting in enough protein? That is the first thing that I have to check if I am losing slower or in a stall.
Hi Brenda. Yes, I'm getting over 75 grams of protein per day and over 64 ounces of water. I can't swallow dense protein well yet, like chicken -- have to add a lot broth and puree it. I expect eating will get easier in time. I do get the protein from protein shakes, cottage cheese, and eggs. Applesause is helpful in getting the ground meat down. I also add unflavored protein to some things. If you have any tips on getting more protein I'd love to have them. Thanks again for taking time to write me.

Good Morning Marilyn.......
First of all, I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers that the results of your test turn out well.
As for the weight loss this is not unusual...I have known others that have had this happen to them. They pump you so full of fluids in the hospital it takes awhile to lose that. Plus your body is just learning to adjust to the changes. The weight loss will happen. Keep following the doctors orders....it sounds like you are anyway.
Good Luck!!
Hugs, connie d
Thanks for writing me Connie. It's a hard week waiting for the results so I'm staying busy and living well. I appreciate the information about slow weight loss -- I think I just needed reassurance. I'd surely hate to find out I went through all this and it didn't work for me. I guess that's everyone's fear. You've done so well -- your comments mean a lot to me.
