I'm Back from Wisconsin Dells.....

....wow what a trip.....there was a major highway blockage because our major highway I-94 was closed due to flooding....and then we had to travel up Hwy. 12 to the Dells We left at 7:00 am and ran into a detour because two semi's had hit each other head on [one guy died]...and were all over the road at a big bluff in addition to a mud slide.....my girlfriend took the map and when everyone else had to turn right for a bumper to bumper detour....we turned left and went all  the back roads through the gorgeous Wisconsin countryside and mauneuvered around mud slides and washed out roads to get to the Dells in amazing time. It was inspiring to see all the people that volunteered...I have some pictures of the lake....or lack of lake....It was a glorious day up there...but so many people could not get there.....due to all the flooding. We still had lots of people volunteer.........for the lake clean up....  After we finished with the Lake Clean Up ...we decided that we should go to Ho Chunk Casino....to gamble......the traffic on the main highway was intense..... so we were there for about 2 hours.....there were lots and lots of Harley Davidson riders in the area....even saw one woman that had fallen off her bike and the ambulance was there for her. The Casino was doing a brisk business.  My girlfriend loves to gamble. I sat at a bar and played Video Poker and smoked cigarettes, and drank Coke...had a HUGE ice cream cone and talked to the bartender.about floods and politics......I doubled my money... so I was very lucky....even though I don't gamble usually. He informed me however...the visit with him was "priceless" Coming home we hit bumper to bumper traffic again going through a small town...but my girlfriend took out the map and routed us around again. It was such a fun day....road trippin' through the beautiful countryside....even with the mudslides and roads washed out....it was sunny and beautiful....and when we got close to Madison...there was rain....but a huge rainbow in the sky. I even did some business on the way...had to stop at a BP gas station, and go down in the basement and fax something to a Buyer that was in Alaska......to a seller that was in Green Bay.....such is the life of a Realtor on the move. Hope you all had a great day. Love, Marti

I'm not the angel....all those FAMILIES that came and worked in the MUD...one woman got stuck and two guys had to help her out....there were kids of all ages and people of all ages.....and FEMA credited us with $7.00 per hour for workers toward Lake Restoration....that was of course lots of paperwork and that's what I did with a big T-Shirt that said STAFF on it....people just asked me lots of questions all day....the lake is looking pretty clean and pretty empty...here is a couple of pics. Love, Marti

This is part of our Rapsody Resort up there.

I did have a rewarding day.....it is so hard to see all those people there that count on these three months of summer to make their big business and now with all the flooding, people can hardly get there.....because the Interstate from Madison to the Dells is closed ...the small back highway was FILLED with semi's in the bumper to bumper traffic.I met lots of wonderful people.I did very little, just a lot of paperwork so make sure people got credit for working to get FEMA credit....you know the government.

Hi Marti, You are an Angel for your generous spirit! I heard the Dells area is supposed to get more rain today...in fact possible severe storms...I think it'll just go South of my area but hit the Dells and maybe Madison. This is getting rediculous.  Hey Marti, I didn't know you are Realtor. I thought about moving back to Madison if I don't go further South. I will certainly call on you for my new residence. Have a great, relaxing day. Alice

Marti, I certainly will give you a shout. Have you ever worked at St. Mary's? I did back in 1974. I work MICU/CCU. I used to live on the West side by Hillfarms in the Carolina apts. I loved Madison, lots to do there. I get there from time to time cuz my regional office is there. I was there for 5 wks in April/May for more training and stayed in Middleton at Fairfield. Got to know alot of restaurants. If you ever have a chance, go to Glacier Rock at the West Towne Mall for their seared Salmon...it's fantastic. I could go on forever here...Take Care and rest up, Alice

Not St. Marys..I was a Madison General [now Meriter] gal. I worked in Surgery there for 3 years afer graduation and then later went into psych nursing for 10 years.[I swore I would never do psych...but you know what they say..."never say never"...but I have been a Realtor for about 28-29 years.....do not even have a nurses license anymore...thank God for the patients.....but my family still thinks of me as a nurse...LOL.
