Hi Phyllis, You're from Dayton - I'm from Toledo!  I had the Roux-En Y even though I was needing a weight loss of "only" 101 pounds.  I was fortunate enoughto have an 83-year-old father who paid for the surgery because he unerstands how I have fought this all my life. Insurance said I had to do a 6 month supervised weight loss program. Well, I had 5 years with Jenny Craig but they wwouldn't take it. The nice thing was that my doc had gone to the hospital to talk about the fees - they were charging $30,000! By the time I went in March 2008 the price was reduced to $23,500. My doc said it was still robbery but it helped my Dad and me a lot. As it turned out, insurance paid for all teh pre-surgery testing! And the anesthesiologist!  I hope your appeal process goes through smoothly.
