I't SATURDAY! what's new?
Got my strawberries all done yesterday and they were in pretty bad shape after sitting all nite.....should have maybe waited a few days for some that weren't so damaged from all the rain.....must have thrown away at least 2-3 quarts of berries that had so much rotten on them there was no saving them. I am going to tell the lady at the fruit farm I wasn't really happy with them, at $34 a case, that's pretty expensive. I did get 9 qts in the freezer, plus a bag of whole berries frozen. A big dish to eat on and some for the neighbors, so guess it wasn't too bad. Blueberries are next, and then a few peaches. Got to fill my freezer up with good stuff.
Diane U is in Greece == how exciting.....hope to hear more of her travels.
Better get moving again or I'll never get finished cleaning.
Have a great weekend everyone.
Hugs,
Pat R.

Good Morning Pixie and Friends,
Gee Cheryl why didn't you pop down to help with the 4am Hannah and Clara feeding???? Now they are back sound asleep and I'm wide awake. It has been so much fun having them here this week. We go back to Chehalis this morning; I'll spend the night and come home tomorrow.
So much to do around here the next couple of weeks. We picked up the apartment keys yesterday and rented yet another storage unit. This one is 10 x 20 and should hold the rest of our household stuff including the washer and dryer and hot tub. Our son will be home the end of next week to help with the move to the apartment.
With Erin, Clara, Hannah, and Lucy, the puppy, here we have all had our hands full. Lots of visitors each day and feedings about every 3 hours during the day. Last night they went from 10pm to 4am. Mike and I took care of the 4am feeding. Erin will be shocked when she wakes up to find that she has been in bed since 10pm last night! They skip a feeding at night time once a week or so. Just enough to get your hopes up that it will be a consistent thing.
Cheryl, I can't imagine ever having a gap between my legs. Never have had one! I no longer wear my jeans out in that area tho so that is progress. I can just see your eyes as you noticed that major change! Congrats.
I really want to get up your way some Saturday this summer. Let's make a point of it ok? There should be some "lulls" in all of this "storm"! At least enough to let me come to Spokane for a day. I'd love to sit on that porch of yours and see your beautiful old home. I'm doing my best to make a Craftsman out of this new house, adding touches of the old homes wherever I can. My inside door treatments will have old fashioned molding. The outside will have a covered porch, the front door has a few panes of glass in the top of it. Cedar shakes on the front trim, lots of wood in the great room and shelves around the fireplace. It's really starting to take shape.
Tim Russert's death really made me stop and pause also. I'm 59. . . . I try each day to take the day that I am given and make it the best I can. From about age 45-55 I didn't really live life. I existed and that was about it. I believe we are meant to do more than exist. As many of us were and many more still are we were trapped by our obesity. What a vicious cycle it is. Each day I am thankful for this much healthier body even with it's obvious "not so new" cover!
It's going on 6am and we want to get an early start. Time to make a pot of Joe as my dad would say. When he and Mom retired he would make a pot of coffee on the stove. Percolated coffee was the only kind that got hot enough for him! He'd open the bedroom door hoping Mom would smell it and get up to start breakfast. He was a wonderful guy, but oh so traditional. He loved his 3 squares so much. Must be where I got it!
You all have a great weekend. Those of you fortunate enough to still have your fathers on this earth, give them a hug from me. Those like me who no longer have them here, cherish the memories and stop to reflect on the lives they lived. Watching Hannah and Clara smile this week (real smiles! not gas!) made me wish that all of their "great grands" could have seen them. I like to hope that somewhere they are smiling down on all of us. Bye for now.

Well, the newbie here's going to a graduation party for my husband's niece, then we are going to a summer fest in a suburb west of here...if all goes as plans. I had my second lap band fill Thursday so I can probably eat (cautiously) again. BUT NO BEER. Speaking of beverages I guess I'll go get my first cuppa coffee for the day also. Have a great day, mary
Hey newbie Mary:
I'm from your neck of the woods originally; grew up in Franklin Park, lived in the Elgin-Carpentersville area for a few years ... I know Schaumberg very well because of the mall out there. No beer! How could you stand it? (Well, I managed it for a year after surgery, I guess it's doable.) Next time I'm in the Chicago area (if I ever I have enough money for gas again), we should try to get together. My family all lives in the area ... brother lives in Lake Zurich, mom still in Franklin Park.
