Tornados
What a night we had last night !! I have never seen anything like it. The warning sirens went off for 3 hours. Storms were coming in from differant directions. If you heard about the Boy Scout Camp that wa**** by the tornado , it was north of us. 4 teen boys were killed. 60 hurt. One who died was the son of a friend of my Son-In -Law. He was so upset when he heard he had to leave work. If you saw the two boys on the Today Show being interviewed the mom on the right ( with very bad hair) used to be the supervisor of my program. My son is a storm chaser and he said he has never been so scared. These storms were "rain wrapped" I never heard of that. He said it is like a curtain around the tornado so you can't see it. he was right up by the Boy Scout camp on the road and all of a sudden the "curtain" parted and there was this huge wide tornado less than a quarter of a mile from him. it was blowing so hard he couldn't drive. Thank-God it passed him. In the mist of all of this lightening hit a house and caused a house fire. granddaughter Faith is at camp in the middle of Iowa and they were evacuated to a retirement home in a near by town. We have had so much bad weather and rain upon rain the fields were already too wet and now it looks like we live in the land of lakes. Its not over yet when the water moves some leveys may burst. Oh My Oh My..

Saw the advisory pop up at work last night; didn't know how many died until I got to work this afternoon. Sorry for the losses there; this has been a bad year for weather in the Midwest. We lost two Press carriers on Sunday when a road gave way from flood along the lakeshore over here. They were an aunt and nephew. They were in the car and the road just disappeared, and they plunged to their deaths. So sad.
My prayers are with all of those involved with that tragedy and all the others that are going on in this country. The weather this year has been so terrible. I know that we are havig tornado warnings and watches like never before. We are under a watch until 8 tonight. And another thing is all this flooding. Mother Nature is not in a good mood this year at all.
Hi, just noticed your post. I live in northwest Omaha, Elkhorn to be exact, and I've never seen anything like it either. It was a strange and scary storm. We were lucky not to have more tornados touch down. The boy scout camp tragedy was horrible. My heart goes out to everyone of those boys and their parents. Even the lucky ones that survived will be haunted by that nightmarish event for a long time to come. I'm glad you and your family were safe.
