Good Morning Janet and all, Yep, Annette, I got all my new wardrobe EXCEPT undies and socks at the thrift store. I saw a program on Oprah once about how underwear don't REALLY get clean and while I wouldn't buy used ones anyway, that really clinched it for me! Yuck! My surgeon fit me in yesterday...he thinks maybe gallbladder or ulcer. Of course it felt better by then and now today no pain. He wanted an ultra sound done yesterday and for sure today, but coordinating with Group Health especially when I wasn't "referred" to him means the ultra sound may not happen until after my appointment with my pcp on the 17th. So...for now I feel fine...well, not perfect, but much better. I still get pretty full and uncomfortable after just a couple of bites so we'll see...Thanks to all of you for your info and concerns. It really helped. Our weather is still awful...for a spring...course nothing like what some of you are going through...prayers that you are all kept safe and sound. We are only in the 50s today...should be in the 70s. Maybe this weekend spring will come out for a bit... We are having a little memorial for my friend at the apartment building where I worked as the social worker. She was the manager there at one time and had been a resident for many years too. The social worker there now is a good friend and the residents wanted something to remember Nancy by so we put our heads together and will have a little service today. My dad and a former co-worker will do the service, my husband will play his guitar...My only nagging worry is that the big bosses, the jerks I quit my job because of, will be there and may be unhappy that this is taking place. I don't want my friend, the gal who took my place, to get any grief from this. She is the one who decided though to do it as the residents were asking her for something sooo...... Well, gotta go get ready for work... Have a lovely day all... Cheryl

Cheryl, Until Karen mentioned gall bladder, that never crossed my mind. I had the beginnings of an ulcer butthe symptoms were relieved by eating. When the gall bladder went kaput, eating intensified pain. From my experience, too often the BIG bosses take the HUMAN out of human services. The memorial service will help the residents feel some closure and pay tribute to a person they loved. I hope it goes smoothly with no added grief. Annette

Good morning Janet and my OFF friends. sounds like everyone is busy, busy. I'll have the granddaughters today. We are going to go through all their toys and dress up clothes here today (they don't  know it yet) and give away the baby toys and too small dress up stuff. Of course that means we'll have to play dress up (including Nana) for a while first. They asked me to polish their nails today so we'll make a pretend spa day of it. (it is so cool to be retired on days like this!) The weather is supposed to be cooler and drier today, so that will be nice. BTW EArl got the new seat on my bike last night so I guess I'll have to see if I can ride it now further than on the patio. Pray I can keepit upright and not fall off. Or everyone will have quite a show. Have a great day! Paulette

Hi Janet and Everyone! Well, my first day of "normal" life allowed me to eat 96 g of protein and 67 for my water!  I think I did really well.  Back at it today with sipping another protein bullet while on the computer.  This time I blended it with water so I'm getting both in at the same time.  This is a process.  Put 'er in and head to the bathroom.... repeat.   Got the crushed pills down much easier this morning, too. The best part of Tuesday for me is -- I GET TO TAKE A SHOWER!!!!!!!!  Was advised to wait two days from discharge because of the drain removal.  I can't wait for my hubby and daughter to get up so I can make all the noise and get the shower going. My son is coming to visit today before work and the plan is to send him and my daughter to stock up on supplies before daughter heads home to Phoenix tomorrow.  Seems I underestimated the amount of bottled water.......  LOL We sat here yesterday wondering how long it would take work to call me with a question.  The answer was 12:50 p.m.  Even work laughed when I explained to them we were waiting.  I was glad I could still remember answers to give them.  I hope you all have a good day!  I think I plan to....  We'll see! Hugs, Kathi

OMG 96 g of protein and 67 oz water!!!  Girl you are doing great and I didn't expect anything less from you!  You were so well prepared for this and should be the gold standard for wls!  I am so proud of you! About the bottled water - is the quality of your local water not good?  I start each day with a fresh bottle of water, but refill from the faucet when it's empty.  The cost of those bottled waters add up and I'm frugal (thrifty - cheap).  There are a few places I will not refil my bottle and grab a new one.  I cannot tolerate the water at my Mom's or sisters' houses.  They live in the 'burbs, their water tastes totally different than mine and actually upsets my stomach Debbie

Oh Thank You, Debbie! I'll take all the encouragement I can get.  I think it's going pretty well, too.  Today I'm on the same path as yesterday so I don't think I'll have a problem with the numbers until I get to a "food" stage.  Liquids do slide through and leave again.  That makes more room!  I loved your story about the man in your dept getting the Rising Sun Award.  Thanks for sharing. Hugs, Kathi
