Kathi,   Isn't this Thursday = June 5th?    Now I'm worried that I'm all mixed up!!!!     Somebody needs a visit from the men in white coats & I suspect it might be me!  Oh, Dear .... what to do?

Thanks for finding my error, Jan!  What would I do without you as my angel?  I hope I never have to find out.... This Thursday is June 5.  I got confused with our wedding anniversary which is Monday, June 9.  Nerves have finally settled in for me tonight for some reason.  I think it was too much to do at work today to prepare to be out of the office for a month.  I was dealing with July for most of the day! Thanks so much.....  You don't need the men in the white coats yet!  Hang with me long enough and you probably will! Hugs, Kathi

Hi Kathi.  Thanks for your note.  I want to wish you the very best this Thursday.  It will be great to follow each other's recovery.  May we both get through this without complications and find ourselves on a fantastic journey to better health. ~~~ Pam

Welcome, Pam!   I hope you love it here as much as I do.    Such great friends and wonderful support.    I think the only difference between us & the young-uns who have wls is that maybe we appreciate it more.....   Many of us carried the extra weight for years & years & are so grateful to finally have help as well as have all these wonderful friends for support.     I'm happy you can join us - just pull up a chair & join right in!

Pam, Welcome! WLS at our age shouldn't be any problem unless you have special health problems.  I had surgery at age 54.  Two friends had it at age 53.  And we're all SO glad we did. Actually, it seems to me that older folks are better able to follow doctor's instructions and accommodate the many lifestyle/mental/emotional changes than a lot of younger folks are. Good luck with your surgery. Jean

Welcome Pam!  June 12th will be here before you know it.  I feel so fortunate to have found the OFF group .  These fantastic, supportive people are like family.  I wish you a safe surgery and a wonderful journey. Debbie

Pam, Welcome to probably the best support board around, populated by wonderful caring folks.  Everyone's WLS journey is different, as for specific issues, not sure about that, but if some pop up, feel free to bring it here and probably someone will be able to help you through it.  There are quite a number of veterans on here, as well as a constant stream of new folks, so jump in and soon you will feel like you've known us forever! As I am leaving Friday, June 6th, returning the 13th, I want to take this opportunity to wish you the best possible surgical procedure and a nice easy recovery, do exactly as your surgeon tells you and all should go well.  Remember to sip, sip, walk, sip, rest, sip, and sip some more. . . Hugs, Laureen

Thanks again to all of you who have posted on this thread.  I do feel blessed to be here!  Some of the other boards I was visiting seemed rather overwhelming.  This one feels more intimate for some reason.  I like that.  I will keep you all posted with my probable growing concerns as my day comes closer.  Thanks for all of your support! ~~~ Pam

Hi, I am 53 and had RNY on 7/2/07, in San Francisco.  I am losing a bit slower than a lot of others, but I have lost almost 80 pounds nevertheless.   Welcome and good luck!!!
