What's new ? TGIF
Thanks Brenda,
Although I feel sad for her, I think part of the blame lies with her surgeon. My surgeon requires carefull screening, attending support meetings, education from the dietician and a million other hoops to jump through BEFORE we are approved for surgery.
Her surgeon basically sees them once and they have surgery. There is very little follow up care. I don't think she had a clue about this entire process.
BUT -- I'm unable to spoon feed her. Banging my head against a wall hurts.
Annette
T.G.I.F. Margo and Everyone,
Margo, I'm glad you found a nice home for your bird and it's nice you get to share having him for a while, too. It's good that Roxie isn't shy!
Thanks to Annette for sharing the story of someone not being proactive after going through with having surgery. Serves as a great reminder for me as I prepare for surgery next week. And prepare I shall...... I have my labwork today as requested by the surgeon's office. This weekend I must get the last of the things I need to have -- spirometer, laxative for the night before, Phisohex soap as required......... I plan to re-read the paperwork they provided again today to see if I've missed something. I can't imagine I have since I've read and re-read and read again..... but you never know.
Hubby's appt with the Pulmonary doctor yesterday was uneventful. Dr. changed one of his medicines to try to combat the mild swelling in his feet. We'll see how that goes and back to the doctor in two months. So, status quo on that front.
They have to come today to attend to the new treadmill. Seems I have a missing screw from the installers...... it's always something! Great service to call in the afternoon and have them available from 8 a.m. to 12 noon the very next day.
I hope you all have a great Friday.
Hugs,
Kathi
Good Morning, All
I'll be leaving in a few hours for points West. Will be visiting with Debbie G and Melissa S this weekend, and we'll all be attending the Detroit OH Regional Conference on Saturday. I've never been to a conference, and thought this would be a nice way for me to combine two special events. I'm a little nervous about driving 4-5 hours alone to Debbies, not because I'm afraid of getting lost (or, as Thelma says, "finding a new adventure" !), but because I'm afraid of getting sleepy. I'm giving myself plenty of time for stops and little "walkabouts", and will have the cell phone set up for handsfree (if I can figure out how to use it that way...), if I need someone to talk to, so I should be fine.
On the way home on Sunday, I'm planning to stop at Margo's and share a "cuppa" and have a little visit.
It's gonna be a good weekend.
I got the majority of my weeding done yesterday, but the contractor is nowhere near finished, so I'll have some surprises when I get home. Hope they're good ones. All this work was supposed to be done the first week of April. This is the second year in a row he's done this to me, and I'm not really happy with him, but I guess it's pretty typical. Too much work to do in a short period of time, and everyone just has to deal with it. When I get home, I'll make arrangements for my cleaning angel to come help with Spring cleaning, although it would have been nice to get it done in the Spring. It'll be nice to have clean windows again.
I'll give a little re-cap of the conference when I get home, if anyone is interested. I hope everyone has a great weekend.
Candy
Candy, I found books on tape keep me occupied and awake ( most of them ) while driving. I check them out at the library instead of buying them. They keep me mentally occupied and the trips go so much faster. The only downside is reaching your destination at an interesting spot on the tape. lol I end up driving around the block 10 X to hear the good part. LOL Have a great trip. Millie
Well TGIF to all of you, though today is my "Thursday" since I work T-S.
It will be a quiet day today, since it's monthly training for the guards so no inmate movement. I have a staff meeting at nine, and then I do have to have one inmate over to review a deposition. And all us librarians have been instructed to spend the afternoon working on our end of the month report. I have all my statistics set up in my computer so it only takes me 5 minutes to do the report.
Gas is $4.29 here in my part of the world. I won't be able to afford to drive to work anymore if this keeps up. Sheesh!!! I can remember when I was in high school, and 50 cents went a long way!
No plans for the weekend . . . Monday I'll be going on a field trip with Genesy's class to "Peanut Butter Camp" which is up in the forest. It should be fun!
Okay all, have a great Friday.

Good Morning Margo and everyone!!
It is cloudy and dark today...ugh!!! It was supposed to get to about 70 today.....can't see that happening unless the clouds go away. Our nice days are just not staying around. It is 53 degrees now.
Not much happening here. I am going to try to have a more relaxing day today. I just need to make a couple phone calls for my job and then I am off until Monday.......yay!!!
I am thinking about going to a few garage sales. A church down the road is having a big sale today. I love wondering around garage sales. It relaxs me.
Annette...it sounds like you have done all you can for that lady. You have given her all the information she needs. What she does with it is her decision to make. You have tried long enough to help her. Don't feel bad about avoiding her. If she starts to make an effort to change then you can give her advice again if she wants it. Have a good day!!
Nothing else new with me. Same old same old. I am struggling like I always do when I come back from Iowa. It will pass. I just need to keep busy. I can't spend the day crying again.
Kathi...your surgery day is just around the corner. I am soooo happy for you. I am sure you have all your ducks in a row and ready to start your new journey to a healthier you!!
Hope everyone has a glorious day.
It sure feels good to be back on the OFF board again!!!
Love and Hugs, connie d
