Good morning everyone! I hope you had a great 3 day weekend. My weekend was very busy. I went to visit my mother for her 80th birthday Saturday. My youngest son Geoff and the baby came with me. We got to town and checked in to the quaint old hotel about 4. We showered, dressed, changed and fed LP, and headed down to the little restaurant to meet the rest of my family at 6. My sister Tancia was there with her husband. As the rest of the family arrived, we were told Mom was having a rough time getting ready. As it turned out, my youngest sister had to call an ambulance for Mom. Her pulse ox was down to 62. They put her into  high level care unit for 2 days. It appears that she had some type of fast acting respiratory infection. The scarey t hing is she almost had a heart attack. I had dropedd Geoff and the baby at the hotel after we had the birthday dinner, and went to the hospital with my sister. We stayed there for a few hours with Mom. We all met back at the hospital Sunday morning. She did get to see LP then.  On the way home from the mountains, N called me. She was upset and crying. She feared dying. She has so much going on for her right now. We talked on the phone for a few minutes and she calmed down. I picked her up when I got back into town and brought her home with me for the rest of the weekend. Luckily, the baby was a gem the entire weekend. He is sleeping through the night. He had smiles and laughs for everyone. This is the first time my family had seen him. Everyone was so impressed at what a good baby he is and how happy he was as each one held him. My little niece Ruby thought he was the Cat's Meow.  I did get to rest some at the end of the day yesterday. I napped and sat on my front porch sipping some good coffee.  How was your weekend! LOL I hope everyone had a great time.

Good Morning, Aime, and Everyone, Aime - sounds like you had a weekend filled with ups and downs.  Mostly ups though and that's a very good thing.  It's nice you got to see your mother and introduce her to the little guy.  You are exceptional and so very strong.  Your family is very lucky to have you. Getting ready for work and nothing much new around here today.  Plan to hit the ground running at work since this is a short week. Take care and enjoy this last Tuesday of May!  Hard to imagine May is almost over.  Yikes... Hugs, Kathi

Good morning Amie and all, Aime, you have more energy in your little finger than I have in my whole body! Prayers and positive thoughts to you and yours. Had one of the best weekends in a long time. Nothing special, just nice. Got some really nice things, capries and shirts at the thrift store 1/2 off sale. It was so crowded, even at 8am! But I persevered and won! To my surgeon today as he canceled my Friday appt. Have a great Tuesday! Cheryl

Hi Annette, Aime and all my OFF friends,  Annette, I'm not sure if it's a good or bad thing that the X behaved.  Might have been good for your soul to give him a good throttling!!!  Bad X, Bad X I can relate to the bra thing....I wear the same size my 16 yr old niece wears, same size clothes too. Maybe she'll share when I go to San Diego? You and I have to keep up with our dear Karen S.  I do worry about her and it's all so familiar. Gary is done with his training in the south-east part of the State so our schedule is back to normal. Thank the Good Lord!!!!!   I thrive on routine, in life and in my eating. Hope all of you have a Jim Dandy Day!

It was a nice weekend. Yesterday it got into the low 80's here and I was actually "warm"!!! LOL

Saturday I got all my annuals planted AND mulched. Just need a few plants for the big barrel out in the back - may wait till they mark stuff down. Sunday I went to my sister's in Indiana for a cookout - we had chicken and ribs -I ate one rib and it pleased The Kemminator. Took the marinated fresh veg salad and had lots of gas later - must be the raw cauliflower, cause it happened again yesterday.
Sorry TMI!

Yesterday was veg out day - read, ate junk (oops) and not much else - oh I did get a pair of pillow shams made in mint green for my bed.

Today I am starting the five day pouch test and drinking my protein shake as I type....does the powdered protein work in crystal light???? ANYBODY????

Also on the agenda is a thorough cleaning of the garage today. Weather is much cooler than yesterday so I won't
sweat!
DS finally came and took his boat home so the garage is all mine again. One piano student wants to take lessons this summer, so he will be here at 4 p.m., then I may go over to the H.S. and watch the county track meet - my DS's team will be there.

Tomorrow is back to work and I may work Thursday instead of Friday, as my co-worker's birthday is Thurs. and they are planning a carry-in for her...fortunately my job is very flexible so I can pretty much work whenever as long as I get my hours in.

Time to get my shoes on and attack the filthy garage.

Pat

Good morning Aime and all my OFF family. I hope that today is a great one for you.  Yesterdays cook out went well with one exception. My sister never showed. I have to admit that I was waiting all morning for her call to cancel and it finally came at 12:30 and she was suppose to be here at 1. She was soooooo sick and then she called a hour or so later and she sounded just fine. I know that for some reason she just doesn't like coming to my house. I the 5 years that we have lived here she has been here 3 times. I don't know what her problem is but according to my neice several years ago she is jealous of me. I am not sure why but that is what Autumn said. Ella seems to think it is because I had a relationship with mom and a better one with her daughter. But Ella said that was her choice since you have to work at relationships and Carolyn doesn't really do that. They are all one sided. I just don't understand~her and I are the only siblings and she wants to be close but on her terms. I just call that selfish, but I may be wrong.  Today Bill is taking me to lunch for my birthday to one of our favorite places. That is going to be the closest thing to dinner out since he is going to be going back to work this afternoon. I am looking forward to lunch and besides I got a coupon in the mail for up to $10 off and that makes it just about PERFECT!!!! Nothing much planned today otherwise. I am going to stay home and do a few things around here and then it is going to be a day for me. I am going to sit and watch t.v. if I choose and I am going to read today for sure. I have a choice of my fovorite books~mysterys or a book that I HAVE to read for church and my committee called "Five Practices for a Fruitful Congregation". Hmmm.......I think it is going to be my mysteries today since it is my birthday and I can do anything I want!! OMG! I sound like a 5 year old!!! I am going back into my 2nd childhood. lol Bill is going on vacation the week after next. It officially starts a week from Friday after he gets off work. I love when he goes on vacation and I always miss him like crazy when he goes back but by Wednesday of his vacation week I am ready to either shoot him or myself!!!! Next week I am working at the church office from 8 to noon. I look forward to doing that.  I better get going. I hope that everyone has a wonderful and blessed day. I am sending lots of hugs and love to all with prayers going up for each and every one of you. Special ones are going up for those in need.

Aime, I am keeping your mom and N in my prayers. I am also including you since I get the idea at times that you are so stressed and torn with your feelings. Please keep us posted on how your mom is doing. Sending you love and hugs, dear one.

Aloha Aime and my OFF family.....

Aime....there are always so many posts when I first get on here in the morning because my 5:00 a.m. is west coast 8:00...east coast 11:00, so I always have such a warm feeling of "morning coffee with my sisters." You have your hands full, for sure, and I hope in taking care of so many people, you don't forget to take care of yourself. Your strength is amazing.....and I hope you get the appreciation you deserve.

Yesterday, after my miserable "episode" over the weekend, I ate all day. I made a point of eating small portions every two hours, and I was so thankful that everything went down fine and stayed down. I actually ate quite a lot.....yogurt with bran, protein bar, bran/nut muffin, cottage cheese, banana, chili, and peanuts. I think so many of you were right when you suggested that my two weeks of craziness in Calif. and the strange eating, drinking etc. might have contributed to my meltdown. I am very grateful to be feeling normal again.

Annette......I had a couple of meetings with my ex in Calif., too. He came to the hospital with his wife to see our new grandson. That was a little tense, but OK. Then he showed up at my son's house for an evening by himself...and that was much better. He and I have a strange but pretty close relationship. We have known each other since we were about 8 and 12, and were married for 17 years, so it would be sad to me to become enemies....especially since we share two sons, and three grandsons.

Susan, thanks for worrying about me. I am comforted knowing that you and Annette can relate so closely to what I am going through. I get strength from that. I am trying to listen to what each of you has gone through and see if it rings bells that are identical to my current experience...and so often it does.

Today I'm going to ease back into getting things done around here. I have a pile of laundry, but I love my former SIL and nephew who stayed in my place while I was gone for leaving it spotless! Did I tell you that they also left me a gift certificate for a spa massage at a fancy Maui hotel? Sweet people! I feel guilty that I don't really want a massage because I'm so self conscious about my boney body, and loose skin. I'm going to try and see if I can substitute a manicure/pedicure for the massage.

OK...I've had my Off "fix" for the morning. I missed that morning getting together with you all when I was in Calif....it's like part of my day was missing.

With so much aloha,

Maui Karen

exs....i have a very strange relationship with mine as well..we actually get along quite well now-there were some very tense moments in the first year or so after our divorce which i had initiated. well- when our youngest got marrie dit wasn't as nice as it could have been but hey! we get along much better in person also-and especially when michael is not involved-now-that sounds strange--but michael has very poor relationships with his exs-and i think he thinks i should as well! actually -his first ex was very kind to both of us when we had to go to texas oct 2006 for their son's funeral--it was heart warming to see them be able to share their grief--that probly sounds horrid-but i think you understand me! his second wife -i don't think there will ever be a good moment there--and that is sad...they have one child together-whom michael has not seen since the boy (now 30?32?) was 10...mother plied him full of lies and he told the court that he would kill himself if daddy ever came near him....lies..brendt is the spitting image of young michael and it is so sad taht they both are missing out-and brendt has at least one child- a grand for michael--. what we  do to children...sorry i digressssss
