Aloha Lynn.....I don't post on this very often because my diet is so crazy, but I do read it always.
Your post moved me so. I am so sorry you had to have your dear friend put to sleep. I think that is probably one of the hardest thing we animal lovers have to do because we usually outlive our pets.
When I was in Calif. my brother's dear doggie, Daisy, was going through some pain with her mouth, and couldn't eat. They were so worried about her and were afraid they would have to do what you did, but the vet has given her something to stop the pain and found the cause and he's pretty sure she will be OK.
I can tell you were a great "mom" and I hope that you keep the love and gifts your Sammie gave you close to your heart where she will always remain.
