Millie, there is very little in life that I take issue with anymore - but ignorance is the one that takes me out!!!  I've found many people who are obviously ignorant are scared of learning; THINGS might CHANGE.........OMGOMGOMGOMG and that scares them spitless.  If they remain narrow, tight and ignorant, unable or unwilling to expand their awareness then they feel a modicum of control and are less fearful.  Of course, I know the fallacy in this thinking.  I experienced it in being morbidly obese and needing to control every aspect of my universe and mistakenly believing I was doing so!!! LOLOLOL  I'm so grateful I was willing to grow and change because in there was my salvation and saving grace.  I've never been happier, and if Wendy learns something along the way.......now that's  BONUS!!

She is soooooooo jealous of your success! I seen green while I was reading your message. I would say next time she asks you something as personal as if you plan to have more surgery, "and you want to know why?"  You have transformed your life, she has not. You have alot to be proud of and don't owe her any explaination. My sis once told me (years and years ago) that I was getting too thin from a diet I was on. I told her I will stop when I feel like I should because I feel good. When it comes down to it, others' opinions don't matter, do they?  Have a great day! Alice

No Alice, others' opinions don't matter one whit!!  It took me a long time to learn that internally.  I mean I had the concept intellectually, but to really feel it took a little longer....maybe it's maturity, age if you will, but whatever it is there's a freedom in it that makes life soooooooo freakin' wonderful doesn't it???

As someone else said, she sounds both jealous and ignorant.  I wouldn't get into nutrtional discussions with her: she obviously knows nothing. If someone told me I was getting to thin, first I'd laugh, and then I'd probably say something like, "You may be right" and either walk away or change the subject.  When asked if I'm eating enough now, I just say, "Yes." Stories like this make me glad I'm self-employed now.   You can chose your mate and chose your friends, but you can't chose your family or your coworkers, and those are the folks that have always driven me crazy! ok, I know this would be a mean thing to say but have to add my .02 worth. When she asked if you are eating enough... "Well, that depends on which side of the scale you're looking at".    Problem with me is that I can't think of these things at the right time ... or maybe that's a good thing.  lol  I always think of them later. I think you did the right thing when you just excused yourself.  Sounds like envy and jealousy but also sounds like your wt lose has made her insecurities get a little too close to the surface.  Still, that's her problem and not yours.

Today Wendy brought me a birthday present (I turned 58 on the 19th) along with a wonderfully, warm, caring and loving card.  She verbally apologized and let me know she is concerned about my health, and that she doesn't want to see me "over react" to having been so obese.   She also promised to stop trying to get me to eat fast food and to stop trying to get me to have a "drink" with her.  I've told her over and over I don't drink, I'm an alcoholic and I don't eat fast food.  I think she finally has gotten it!!  She had to embarrass herself in front of clients, first hers and then mine, but I think she actually has it!!!  We'll see.......only time will tell.  I hope so.  I have seen her good heart, it's the mouth that is her enemy! LOLOL

I too, am self-employed, but I lease a station in a salon with other leasors, so we have a lot of exposure to one another.  Fortunately most all of us are adults and "issues" rarely arise that can't be handled with a discussion between the two interested parties.  It is the most mature "salon" atmosphere I've ever come across, but it's still a S-A-L-O-N.  LOLOL  "Yes" is a good response to the qustion if we are eating enough.  It just fascinates me how people find it okay to interject their questions and opinions into something so personal as the food we put in our mouths!!  Sheeesh.  It's kinda' funny actually.  We can all be sooooo unconscious sometimes!  Yikes.

******** There, made my point...... you being nice to her made her realize how much of a fool she was. AND it helped educate her just one more baby step. Had you snapped back or gave her a cold shoulder the outcome would be much different. I bet you feel better too.

I knew there was a good reason for why I always think of smart-aleck remarks after the fact . Glad things are working themselves out for you and your co-worker.  This is a good lesson for me to remember in the months (and years) to come.
