Question for the ladies about facial hair removal

I'm 54 and 1000% happier with myself and my life than I was 10 or 20 years ago, but there is one thing I hate about menopause and that is facial hair.  I'm very fair so it isn't obvious, but I have a mustache and the longer the hair gets, the more it annoys me (tickles my upper lip).  Plucking it very painful and tedious. Have you ever tried waxing your facial hair?  If so, how painful was it, how much did it irritate your skin, and how often do you have to do it? How about Nair cream or lotion products?   Thanks, Jean

Jean, I started getting 'chin hairs' after my son was born.  That was 30 years ago.  I have been plucking ever since.  What a pain!!!!  I have an appointment next week with my regular dr.  I'm going to see if she will prescribe the new prescription hair removal cream, Vaniqua (sp).  Either that or while I'm getting myself happier and healthier, I'm going to have laser hair removal. It will be interesting to hear what others have used.
Hugs! Donna L (finding_me) - I just know I'm here somewhere...

I usually get waxed (upper lip and brows) once a month.  That normally does it for me.  It is a little painful for a minute or so, but the results are good.

I say wax away your problem hairs!! It stings for a minute then you're done for 4 to 6 weeks. Not very costly and no reaction to the stuff they sell in the stores. Good luck!

I wax. Avon has a wonderful hot wax that is not hard on the skin. It leaves my face feeling so nice and soft....I can't afford to have it done professionally so I have to do it myself......

I've done all the above... lol I prefer the facial creams. I usually buy the Nair. When waxed I break out especially when lotions are applied afterwards. Plucking.... well, I come from a hairy family...I go after the "thick ones". Each has benefits... try them and decide which you like. The werewolf look maybe coming back >> LOL Good Luck... Millie

I spend a little bit and have it done a a salon, waxing that is. I get my whole face, including brows done, about every 6 weeks or so. I pluck in between. I used to wax it myself, but I knew when it was coming and I do better with the element of surprise.

Darned menopause!
Joyful hugs,
Connie

I'm a hairy bear too! I have tried everything and have settled on plucking every other day! I'm planning to do the laser this summer. I hope that will work on gray and white hairs. I am constantly plucking on my chin, moustache, and eyebrows. I was hairy even before menopause.  Julia
