A few Wow moments from Calif.....home soon!``

Aloha my OFF family who I miss....and can't visit very often because computer time is scarce.

Oh my, life has been a merry go round for the past 12 days! Only two more to go and I'll be on my way back to my beloved, peaceful and serene Maui!

I have loved most every minute of my visit with my kids, and the little ones and will ponder the moments and the pictures when I get home and deeply miss them all. I won't miss the crazy wildness of a 2 and 3 year old yelling and fighting with each other.......thank heavens for son and DIL to break those up.

Baby "Z" is a bundle of sweet joy...and I can sit and hold him for hours jus****ching the miracle that is my newest grandbaby.

Yesterday I had a WOW moment that blew my mind. I think I told you that my kids got me a $100 gift session with a "dressing consultant" at Nordstroms. Well..I went and she put me in a room and brought me clothes. I told her I wanted some jeans...hadn't dared try them on...didn't have a clue to size, etc. She started out with 12's, then 10's, and she said "Honey, you need 8's!!!! I tried several 8's and sure enough, they fit to a tee!! Blew me away! I have NEVER worn 8's...not even back in high school when I was slender. So, that tells me actually that I'm too thin, and something needs to change.

I was at my brothers and finally near a scale and shocked to see 155 on it! My goal was 175..so you can see I am into scary ground being that low. I don't know what to do. I try and eat every few hours...but I HAVE NO APPETITE!! I do eat, but forget so often and really keep adding things like nuts, cheeses, mayo, whole grain bread, etc. I can eat anything and do...but just can't eat much of it.

While driving around today I bought a frozen yogurt...a small sugarfree. I could only eat half and threw out the rest. Back in the good old 'fat days" I would have ordered a large and finished every bit of it.

My quiet time is almost over......babies will be home soon and then it becomes tutu time.

Just had to check in again. I will be leaving SFO Friday a.m. at 8:30 and home on Maui 11:30 a.m. Can't wait.

Hope you all are doing great..I haven't been able to read all of your posts so I'm just hoping you are healthy, happy and succeeding.

Aloha nui loa,

Maui Karen

Wow, look at you, at 155 ... don't think I'll ever be down there because they must have made my pouch a little bit bigger than most. I can eat quite a bit. I have to remind myself to stop sometimes. Good thing I live by myself and do the TV dinner (aka Lean Cuisine, SmartOnes, etc.) otherwise I might really be in trouble.  I'm glad you are down so far but please watch yourself and don't get too thin so you disappear or get sick. I have never met you but I love your personality and wouldn't want to lose you. I was admonished at a recent work wellness clinic that my BMI was "overweight" and I should lose weight because I wasn't healthy. I told the nurse that I used to be 347 pounds and I was far healthier now than I was four years ago and she should shove her BMI stats. (not quite in those words, of course, but you get the drift). Granted, I could stand to lose maybe another 10-20 pounds, but I don't think my body is going to get down to the insurance companies' goal of 130 pounds. And that's fine with me. And whatever you feel comfortable at should be fine with you. Glad you had a good time clothes shopping ... hope you bought something too.

Karen, it sounds like you have made so many wonderful mom and tutu memories. You can tuck them away in your heart and mind and relive them when you want/need to. You are very fortunate to have wonderful and loving memories.  Please make sure that you take care of yourself. I know what you are saying about not being hungry. I am that way most of the time. There is times that I get hungry and then just like that the hunger is gone. Dr. Stanish said that sometimes when he does surgery on the stomach it affects the mind too. I keep that in mind but I have the same problem with drinking because I rarely get thirsty either. I don't think I am ever going to have the problem of being to thin, that is for sure. lol Have a safe and wonderful trip home and we will be glad when you are back home and to normal since we miss you so much while you have been gone. I look forward to hearing from you, you have such a wonderful way with your words and you have such a peaceful and loving soul. Sending you big hugs and lots of love to you, Karen.

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.

Congrats on the newest grandbaby and I'm glad the trip is going well.  I hope Santa Cruz is looking like it's supposed to, did you say hi to the seals for me? About the size 8s, don't panic!  Sizing is no longer standard, what says size 4 now is what used to be an 8, so enjoy those numbers but don't panic about them.  However the scales....  Double check on your own and then perhaps a call to the doctor for advice?

Hugs, Did the scrubbies arrive? I am at Hannah and Clara's hugging on them until Friday morning. Picking college roomie and mom up at airport in Seattle and heading on Inside Passage cruise Saturday for a week. Sounds like you've had a glorious but exhausting time.   Snuggle in on that wonderful lanai and take care of yourself inyour serene ****oon!

Karen, how I envy you and your grandkids. I don't have any now (have 4 steps that I never see) and just adore loving on babies.

If you are concerned about getting too low on the scales, I would call your Dr. and/or dietician. As long as you feel good and your labs are ok, don't be too worried. I sure wish I didn't feel hungry....I am struggling.

So glad you have had a wonderful time with your kids and grands, but as they say "There's no place like home"!!

We miss you,

Hugs,
Pat R.
