Oh my goodness, so many in need of prayers.  Good thing they're free and plentiful!  Many prayers and good thoughts going out to N, Michael, Nic, Kathleen, and all OFF members and their families in need.  George has been having a bout of stomach trouble for the last couple of weeks.  In the past when it acted up, he'd go to have it checked out - ultrasound, and other testing never revealed any cause.  He's in misery with the pain.  Almost anything he eats causes distress and gas.  Please keep him in your prayers also. Again, not much new or exciting 'cept tonight is Ethan's preschool graduation, and last night the Hornets WON!!!  We did attend our civic association meeting last night (didn't get home until 9:00).  The guest speaker was a retired military man who is playing a huge part in the planning of Federal City (the revitalization of our Naval Base).  The plans are absolutely beautiful, and very community minded.  When complete somewhere around 2015, there will be a high security area in the back against the Mississippi River, with a fantastic public area toward the front section having several retail shops, restaurants, and other services.   Three activities in three nights is exhausting, hope Thursday and Friday night I can stay home and rest. Again, prayers all around for those in need! Debbie

Prayers for everyone. Thank goodness we have this site to come to and release all of our sadness. I, too have been really depressed. I had to put my 18.5 year old ****er down on Monday. I stayed with her while they gave her the shot and just keep telling her what a wonderful dog she was to me.  I thought it would be hard to do but she just looked like she was asleep and at peace.  Today will mark four years since my niece was killed by a hit and run driver. Just trying to breath deeply today and get through it.  It is suppose to be 94 here today and 107 tomorrow. They said this morning on the local news that we will be breaking records.  Planning on going camping with so girlfriends this weekend. I am so looking forward to it. I hope and pray that everyone has a nice day. Debi

debi; i am very sad to hear of your beloved's  loss...18.5 is such a very long life for a dog - you were blessed witha special girl! my ernie (cat) was 18.5 when i had to put her to sleep in1991....it had been half my life at that time that i had had her. i share your grief. sending hugs and more hugs for you-also in the passing of your neice.

As predicted it is a rainy, gloomy day here in southwest Michigan. Managed to get over to the pool and back w/o getting rained on, however, it started in again after I got to work.....I think it's between showers just now as I don't hear raindrops on the roof.

Have the crockpot going -- don't know what to call what's cooking....it consists of: a small boneless beef roast, lots of onions and garlic, a can of diced tomates, a can of Bush's homestyle beans, some hot pepper flakes, salt & pepper, and a little cumin. Sure hope it tastes good?!

The PCP appt. yesterday did yield some good news. He took me off the atenolol (tenormin)....it's a beta blocker and he thinks being off it will help jump start my wt. loss again, altho' he was happy that I had lost 8 lbs. in 3 months (I wasn't). I will take 1/2 a pill for two weeks then stop completely. My BP was 122/64. I go back in a month to have BP re-checked. My thyroid tests came back PERFECT! He says I do not need more synthroid. Oh, I sure hope he's right. A1C was 6.1 so the diabetes is completely under control w/o medicine.

Think I will start our book club selection this afternoon,
It's "Eye Contact", a fictional book about autisim. Will let you know how it reads.

So many ladies on here with sad and troubling news....my heart goes out to all of you. Please know you and your families are in my thoughts and prayers.

Hugs to all,
Pat

Hi Aime and everyone: It's a dreary, rainy day here in West Michigan. Couldn't believe the change in the weather. I slept so well I was kinda groggy and didn't want to get out of bed. Neither did Scooter. Nettie kind of woke both of us up sometime after 10 ... that, and the phone ringing. Got out of bed after 10:30, had breakfast, did some exercising, took my shower, etc. Not much going on.  My brother e-mailed me that we were refunded $35 each from Carnival for the fuel surcharge they charged us; he got both of those charges refunded on his charge card. That's OK, because I still owed him $127 from the cruise, so that's $35 less I owe him now.  Aime, I hope N gets some help for her heart. You stay strong, because she is drawing on your strength, and you must stay healthy to help out with the baby.  Not much else going on. Barack Obama is in town tonight, so things will really be hopping in the newsroom later; won't affect me much because I'm doing the business page, but we'll have several reporters in here reporting on what one radio personality called "Barack-palooza". They already had to close Van Andel Arena, the venue where the rally is being held, because it is full, and the rally doesn't start until after 7 p.m. (It's just 6:10 p.m. now.) This is big news here in West Michigan, which is a big Republican bastion. Well, everyone have a good night.
