Sweet Linda, Think how much more difficult this would be with the extra weight. As soon as you get home from work, head to your recliner and prop those legs, please. Oh giggle, I sound more like my mother every day. She would tell you the same thing. She must have sent this message to you, via me.

Mom has the right idea. I will putting these legs up, eating more green, and praying my body will start behaving. The most important thing is to stay positive, and to remember it will get better, then worse, then better...LOL..so goes life. Thanks, my sister from another mother.

Good morning to all my beautiful friends! We had a really good weekend, ending with a surprise on Mother's Day!  Our daughter, SIL, and Gabe are moving back to LA!!!  Jude (SIL signed a contract to teach at LSU in Eunice, LA.  Shelly (daughter) is hoping to get a teaching position at a Community College in Lafayette!!!  Sometime during the summer Gabe will be living approx. 3 hours away rather than all the way in Joplin, MO!  He's excited, they are excited, we are excited!  Our daughter has lived away from home since she went away to college when she was 18, she's now 34.  With this move, hopefully we'll get to see tham more than once a year, and Gabe and Ethan can actually get to know each other in person rather than through telephone conversations, emailed pictures, and grandma and grandpa relaying stories of one to the other.  They enjoy each other so much when they do get together.  OK, so on to the food: B - protein shake S - banana w/peanut butter L - grilled catfish and 2 tbsp garlic mashed taters S - yogurt D - leftover grilled chicken, broccoli S - protein shake Hoping to make it to support group meeting tonight.  Busy first part of the week - tonight support group, tomorrow night civic association meeting, Wed. night Ethan's preschool graduation.  I'm tired just thinking about it all.

Linda, I am having some food challenges as my band seems to be getting progressively tighter since my fill a week ago.  Who knows why?  When I get up at night to use the toilet (which I do COUNTLESS times), I always have a sip of water (a weird habit of mine) and for the past few days, can't get the sip of water past my stoma.  And I'm too tight in the morning even to eat oatmeal or cottage cheese, so I'm back to protein shakes for breakfast.  But by dinner time I can eat (carefully) solid food, so I don't think I'm going to have any saline taken out of my band.  Living with the band is a real balancing act! B:  protein shake made w/ skim milk and 1/2 banana S:  cheesecake cottage cheese pudding L:  3 oz eggplant parmesan, 1/3 c. brocamole (yummy "guacamole" made w/ broccoli & avocado) S:  1/2 c. Mandarin cottage cheese D:  3 oz curried tofu, 1/4 c. steamed spinach S:  4 oz SF pudding Jean

Jean, it sounds as though there is a lot of adjusting, but we all have problems one way or the other. As long as you are not starving, I guess you are ok...smile.

Linda, No, I'm certainly not starving! Sometimes when I hear myself express my hunger as "starving", I think of the naked, genuinely starving children I've seen begging on the street in India, Thailand and South America and tell myself I'm being ridiculous. Jean

Jean, Many of my lap-banders report trouble eating and drinking first thing in the morning. (I lead their support group) Many have a cup of some sort of tea, wait an hour or two before attempting to eat. They tell me that often a fill takes a while to feel comfy again. Hang in there.  Annette

Annette, Thanks for reminding me about the hot beverage tip.  I think I'll try some hot herbal tea tomorrow morning. Jean
