What's New Friday?

I spent most of the day attempting to stay upright and not . Every tilt of the head or movement caused the world to spin. Today is somewhat better and I'll move slowly.  My house looks like a giant furball since I wasn't up to the daily routine of vacuuming. With 8 furbrats the vacuum cleaner gets a good work out. Oh well, it's not happening today either. By tomorrow we will be eyeball deep in fur. Lordy, I hope nobody drops by for a visit. My BP was running kind of low, maybe that was the cause or I caught what the tots had last week. Tom was all nervous and jerky. He thinks I need to eat more food and especially more salt. Geeze - sometimes we just get a bug which is NOT WLS related. My older daughter sent a gift certificate for Mother's Day. She said that by the new photo I am smaller than when she saw me in February and probably need some new clothes. She's correct, I need some new 'training bras'. Sure don't need anything with a cup anymore. That's it for me. I'm going back to bed too. Annette

Hi Annette and everyone: Well, here I am at work, last day of the week. Everyone on the night crew ordered Chinese food, but I had my leftovers from yesterday (I picked it up as a reward for having my mammogram), so I passed. Besides, I wasn't in the mood. Now, if they were having pizza ... naw, I really couldn't afford it.  Made a big decision last night when I got home from work. Life-changing one: I'm going to meet with the bankruptcy attorney (or actually, the paralegal) and rework my budget, because I can't live on what I'm getting. Everything has tripled in costs, and my cost of living increases haven't met those increases. I crunched numbers in the wee hours of the morning, and even figuring a tank of gas for the week at $45, just going to work and back and nothing else, not going to Chicago at all to see my family, no other trips at all, no doctors' appointments, etc., I am spending $200 more a month than I'm getting. That's with figuring a clothing allowance (which they give you), and an allowance for hair, doctors, dentists, car maintenance, house maintenance, etc. I didn't even figure in my cleaning lady, but I should because this house is getting to be a pit, and if I try to clean it, it takes forever because I can only push the vacuum for so long before my knees and back act up. And my allergies too. So I really need her. And she was relatively cheap. So, with many tears, I decided I had to bite the bullet and stay in bankruptcy longer. It will mean less stress for me because I'll get more money every week and be able to make ends meet better.  So I made an appointment for Monday at 1 p.m. I have the day off; after my 10 a.m. appointment with the psychologist downtown, I'll go out to lunch and do some other errands downtown (need to take my purse to a shoe repair shop and get some more wear out of the purse ... it's a good leather purse that has a lot more use left it in but the zipper is breaking). If I park at The Press, it's free, I can walk two blocks (good exercise) and take my purse in to the repair shop, which is across the street from the psychologist's office downtown.  Well, anyway, that's my big accomplishment today. It's a tough decision and one I didn't want to make. I wanted to be out of bankruptcy this year. Maybe it'll mean I'll be out of it six months later next year. I don't think I'll be going on any trips again for awhile.  Anyway, have a good weekend. Still no computer; need to e-mail the geek and see if there's a chance I might get it back sometime soon.

It's Friday! I'm sorry you aren't feeling well, Annette,  I hope you get better soon. Running errands after work today.  One more day in the office today.  I think I have to get some work done today or the week will be a complete waste there.   That's about it for my Friday.  I'm looking forward to Mother's Day because we'll see my little grandson on the golf course again.   Hope everyone has a great Friday. Hugs, Kathi

Morning Annette and my OFF friends, Friday is my Thursday since I work on Saturday, so I still have one day to go before another break. Yesterday I had an appointment with my plastic surgeon.  He was surprised to see how puffy I still am one month post op, until he heard what all went on with the stomach surgery. Then it was clear to him why I'm still swollen. Says it could be two more months before it all goes down and I see the finished results. That puts it right at the time of my nieces wedding, so let's hope his time table is correct! Had support group last night. There must have been 50 pre-ops there, biggest turn out yet. Our post-op group got a new member, a gal who's having a really hard time with things. She can't eat anything without vomiting it back up. Has had all the right tests including an EGD and the doctor told her that her pouch is still about the same size it was 14 months ago when she had her surgery.  Her labs are in the tank, electrolytes are nil and she's a mess.  I sure hope we can help her find a solution, she's a sweet one. Well, my friends, it's time to hit the shower and get ready for a very busy day.  Hugs to all and hopes for a great weekend for everyone!

Good Morning Everyone! Happy Friday, it's a rainy, grey day, oh well, off to the gym I go and then errands and more errands, stop to get my manicure/pedicure at some point, home to do laundry and figure out what I will wear to my nephew's confirmation tomorrow, which means another 6 hours of driving to and from my brother's in Long Island tomorrow, as my roommate is not going to be home to watch Dillinger for me and I feel guilty to not go home to him.  Later today I am taking my roommate to see her daughter all dressed up and looking beautiful in her prom dress, it's a shame about the weather, but maybe it will pass by then, at least for all the girls sake I hope it stops raining from about 4 to 9 p.m. . .  anyway, hope wherever and whatever you are doing today, it includes some time for yourself. Prayers, positive thoughts and hugs, Laureen

Hi Annette and all, Annette, hope you are not dizzy today. I have that often, don't know why. Not bad though just gives me a little woosh...sometimes. Well, I made it through the night with my guard dachshund keeping me safe. The doxi we had a couple years ago would have been a good guard dog but this little guy is the biggest scaredy cat of any dog I have ever met! But anyway, I slept and no boogie man got me! I had gained almost 3 lbs on my scrapbooking weekend...I wasn't surprised. Lost 1/2 lb so far, gotta get back to what I was before next Tuesday as I see my surgeon and want to be where I was. It will be 7 months out at that appt. I can't believe it! I was invited to a bachelorette party tonight for the nurse I work with. She is the resident case manager for half the floor and I have another nurse that is for the other half. I am the social worker for the whole floor so we three are kind of a team. Anyway, I don't know her well, but really like her. I am not a "party" person either, but I think I should go since I'm new and all. It will be mostly younger people and the theme is sorta they said "obnoxious" which I think meant raunchy sort of. So I don't think I know them all well enough to  jump into that but I may go and try to think of a gift that is fun but not too inappropriate. It is a dilemma for me. Any ideas??? Well, gotta get going.... Have a great Friday all! C

Good Morning Annette and everyone...... Not alot happening here. My ex(Tony) stopped by at 6:00AM. He just got off work and was bored and didn't want to go home. He said he knows I am always up early so here he was. We had a few good laughs and then I sent him on his way. I have an appointment to get my hair highlighted today at 10:00AM. I can't wait. I have waited too long this time. I didn't do it earlier because it was falling out so bad. Now it has stopped falling out and I have alot of new growth coming in. I like that the hair is coming back but I hate all the little spikes of hair sticking up. I know...quit whinning Connie!!!! The temp is a cool 46 degrees with a high of 65 today. Still praying for those 70 degree days!! I am spending the day tomorrow with my best girlfriend, Pam. We are going to the city wide garage sales. I hope I get some great bargains!! I desperately need summer clothes. Just spending the day with Pam will be great. We have so much fun together. We laugh until we about wet ourselves. I am so looking forward to spending some time with her. Hope everyone has a great Mothers Day Sunday. Mother's Day Basket  I am going down to St. Paul to a BBQ with my daughter and family. I am looking forward to granchildren time!! I love them sooooo much!! Spent about a half hour on the phone with Nic last night. He asked me to come down when he has his next round of chemo. I will take the time off and go of course!! He was telling me all kinds of funny things he has been doing with his friends. We had a great conversation. He makes me laugh....he says I make him laugh!! Well that is about it for now. I will send up prayers for those in need. Love and hugs to all......connie d

Good morning Annette and Friends! I asked for vacation time yesterday, and after taking much flack, he approved it.  His first words were, "As far as I'm concerned, you already had 2 1/2 weeks vacation when you had that unnecessary surgery.  I guess you are entitled to your time off, but it puts me in a bind.  Just so you know, I'll probably retire while you're gone and you won't have a job when you get back."  I looked him in the eye and said, "I've been told I WILL be retained after you retire.  If you feel you must retire, go ahead."   I almost added "good riddance", but bit my tongue!  Before he could change his mind, I had him sign my leave slip and gave it to the business manager. Annette, sorry you're not feeling well.  Take care Sweetie!  George and I love the lightening and thunder, especially at night when it lights up the sky.  We open the blinds and watch the light show - kind of   OK, we're weird! Judy, have a safe trip and good luck with the interview!  Give the baby lots of lovin! Cheryl, glad the boogie man didn't get you.  While I have come to enjoy alone time, I don't like being in the house alone when it's time for On those rare occasions, I lock myself in my room with my cell phone as a back up, and make sure I have a working flashlight.  I've even made sure I have an escape route - if I need to, I can climb out the bedroom window onto the attached garage roof, ease myself down on the fence or car and make an escape!  Yeah, right!  I'd be frozen with fear!  Besides, I'm scared of heights!  Like I'd climb out of a second story window!  Well, on second thought if my butt were in danger, it would probably be out of there!  Luckily I do feel very safe in my neighborhood and we haven't had any trouble! No set plans for the weekend 'cept for a Zephyr's game Sat. and church Sun.  Both sons are working Sunday.  Danny, the nurse was scheduled to be off, but one of the women he works with has young children and asked if he switch a day with her so she could be with her family for Mother's Day.  GIII, being in the restaurant business will be very busy.  Shelly (our daughter), SIL, and Gabe are in the mid western part of Louisiana on job interviews!!!  Please say a prayer that they or at least one of them gets one of the jobs!  They are desperately trying to move back to LA.  Where these jobs are located will be an overnight trip for us to see Gabe, but a lot closer than where they currently live. Last night after dinner, George and I were cleaning the kitchen when the doorbell rang.  He answered it and came back carrying a big box.  Shelly, Jude, and Gabe sent me an arrangement of the most beautiful blue irises (sp).  Total surprise!  Y'all know I don't garden, so no flowers around for me to enjoy, but I do love flowers.  George gardens, but his saying is, "If you can't eat it, why spend time growing it!" Whoa, I really need to buckle down and get to work! Have a great weekend and a very Happy Mother's Day to all of you! Debbie

Good afternoon to my lovely OFF sisters and handsome brothers. I hope that this Friday is treating you all well. Went and got my blood work this morning. I was running late getting them since they are a couple of weeks past due. Bad bad me. They are just normal tests the tech said and would be done today and so she is going to fax the results to both the urologist and wls doctor. They are checking my potassium and magnesium. I know! Spelling sucks!! Bill got my Mother's day and birthday presents today. I got my new swing. The other one bit the dust. lol He is going to put it together tomorrow and so it just a matter of hours before I get my sanctuary back. I am at total peace when I am sitting on my swing. I just can't explain it but I have no stress and nothing seems to bother me. It is like my piece of heaven here on earth. I sit and read or jus****ch people and traffic.  I told Bill that he can get a new gas grill but his is costing more and so he told me that it was going to be for his birthday, Father's day and our anniversary. In the end he is going to get something he knows it and so do I. lol The day is kind of overcast. the sun is trying to peek out of the clouds and sometimes you can tell and other times you can't. It is a bit on the chilly side. I have my patio door open and it seems like I should close it but Misty loves when it is open and she sits right in front of i****ching over her back 40. Boy, I sure love that kitty.  Better get going. Time is ticking away and I am going to finish, or at least try to finish my kitchen cabinets. I am transferring things from one to another since I gained some cabinet space. Around this tiny place cabinet space is always a good thing. lol This week end is busy. Tomorrow we have a birthday party for Bill's cousin who is turning 50. Once his family gets together they all go like the Ever Ready Bunny if you get my drift. So saturday is shot for anything else. Sunday is church and a Mother's day cook out at me niece Autumn's house. She wanted one for her mom and for me since I am her Godmother and her favorite aunt as she calls me. Auntumn was out of state when her daughters 10th birthday came which was April 1st. We are having a combination cook out and birthday party. Next Saturday is another birthday for our other great niece Karissa. She is turning something. I say 5 and Bill says 6 so who knows. lol They are coming so fast I lost track of them now. I use to know but those days are gone. lol I am keeping all of you in my prayers and sending special ones up for those who are in need. Have a wonderful day with what is left of it. I am sending love and big hugs to all. Will chat later on.
