Marti, Janesville is clear up in the NE corner of California, we're 70-80 miles NW of Reno . . . just outside of Susanville . . . home of more than 10,000 men.

 

Okay Connie, my sister always said I was lousy with geography, now I know it for sure!  Do you all have an army base up there?  Where you feeling all those quakes last week? I have a son up in Eureka and he was feeling the ones in his town.  In fact the city came and posted signs 3 to 4 miles inland that the neighborhoods were in a tsunami zone!  Needless to say, since he originally came from San Jose, he found that startling! Am ready for summer down here instead of this chilly Spring, how about you? Marti

Yes, Marti, there is a small Army base up here, about 25 miles down the road.  My son works there.  But the 10,000 men I was referring to are all incarcerated.  We have to state prisons (I work in one) and one federal prison.  So not the place to send a single girl!!!! We haven't felt any of the quakes, but I'm thinking there might be some big coming.  Yikes!!!  

Connie, Are you up by Pelican Bay?  How long have you been working at the state prison?  What do you do there? I have been running a recycling program at this over-55 apartment building I live in, in order to buy disaster supplies (read earthquake stuff).  Our funds are just about up to $500, which is the amount I thought we should reach before we start a planning committee about what to purchase. Am hoping we can postpone having a meeting until after I recover from my surgery! Hope you have a nice Mother's Day! Marti Marti
