Hello and a concern(long)

Hi Everyone!  I am a 54 year old woman and I am very excited to see a forum that focus' on those of us on this journey over 50.  I have always had a weight problem and have lost and gained hundreds of lbs throughout my life.  So finally I had the DS surgery in September of 2007.  It seems to be working well, I have lost 120 lbs to date. I still have about another 100 to go to reach 135, (my surgeons number).  Anyway, so here is my question.  When I was younger, losing weight always made me feel excited and happy.  This time, my skin is tired and old and hanging.  My face has really aged and my eyes look exhausted.  I was wondering if any of you have any great ideas, other than plastic surgery, to improve my skin while I continue to lose?  I am not a vain person, but find I am feeling quite self conscious about my face.  I would really appreciate any ideas or words of wisdom you could offer! Thanks to you all. Paula

That sounds like the gray ghost syndrome. Drink more water and up your protein shakes to at least 120 grms per day. Eventually it will even out, but until then the extra water and supplemented protein works great.

Congrats on your weight loss to date.

Hello and welcome to OFF (over fifty forum). Glad you decided to join us. This is a really great board. There are so many wonderful and caring people here. I also have the extra wrinkles in my face. I knew there would be wrinkles else where but I didn't know it would effect my face like this...UGH!!!  I have noticed it is getting alittle better.  I agree with Darlene....plenty of water and protein helps!! I use a really good moisturizer and eye cream and I have noticed some improvement from them. Wish I could afford a Face Lift!! Good luck....come join us often. Hugs......connie d
