Almost mainland bound.......!
Aloha my marvelous OFF family,
Instead of adding to What's New, I decided that this was worth a post of it's own. I am doing last-day "stuff" getting ready for trip to Calif. to be there for the birth of my 3rd grandbaby, who as yet has no name.
My DIL called this morning and she says this baby is a "kick boxer" and she's very uncomfortable and READY for Monday when she will be induced. My son called last night and said, "PLEASE HURRY...WE NEED YOU!" It's so nice to be needed. My DIL and I both agreed that we will never let a whole year go by without getting together, and that if each of us goes to the other once a year, we will only let six months pass between visits. I want to be a part of these three little grandbaby's lives.......not just "tutu in Hawaii" who they never see.
My two weeks are going to be FULL to the MAX! I'll be chief babysitter, cook, bottle washer, cab driver for Brock and Brady to go to day care...at least that will give me time to play with the new baby without making the older ones feel left out. I am SO THANKFUL that I now have the energy and the body to take on this kind of non-stop activity!!!
I'm doing laundry, and checking on what I can and can't take on the airplane. I'm thinking I'd better unpack and repack because I have forbidden things in my carryon....sigh.
Anyway.....my dear OFF family.......I may not be on here much in the next two weeks...maybe not at all unless my son lets me use his computer. You will all be missed......and I WILL try to come on and update you on my Calif. adventure.
In the meantime.......I know you will all be here laughing and crying, and fighting daily battles together. That gives me so much pleasure and comfort...just knowing that. So...here comes a big Aloha HUG ..... you are loved.
Aloha nui loa,
Maui Karen

My sister, Karen, I hope and pray that your trip to your family is a safe one. Have a wonderful time and know that you will be missed more than you know. Family isn't the same when one is missing. Make sure you spoil them grandbabies. Really I don't think you can spoil them because you just love them. That is what grandbabies are for~all that lovin'!
Remember we are here thinking about you. Have a wonderful trip and come home to us safe and full of stories.
Aloha dear Brenda.......It is such joy to know that I do have the loving support of my OFF family.......and I know it because I feel it toward all of you.
A little tidbit about my life. I didn't think I was ever going to be a grandma because both my sons were still single at 35 and 37. I moved to Maui thinking there would be no reason to stay on the mainland waiting for babies. WELL! My youngest son got married two years later, and four years later....there are THREE GRANDBABIES!! Life is full of surprises.....Ha!
Thanks so much for your TLC.

Aloha Jan, my Calif. sister!! Oh my, how I wish I had the time to cruise on down to your area. I'll be in Scotts Valley, not far from Santa Cruz. My brother has a little hobbit house in Carmel, and I usually stay there for a few days, but this time I don't think there will be a spare minute..........but another time for sure!! How far IS San Juan Capistrano from Carmel anyway?
Thanks so much for you good wishes.

Unfortunately, it's way far..... We're half-way between Los Angeles & San Diego on the coast (well, not as "on the coast" as you are, we're 4 miles inland). I don't think you'll have a spare moment anyway. Maybe next time you come, if you have a little spare time, some of your Sistahs from So Cal (Peg, Kathi & Me) or Mid Cal (Darlene?) could plan a road trip!
Aloha again Jan.....That sounds like a plan. We could stay in my brother's little house in Carmel........rent free!! He's a sweet brother and lets me use it whenever I like.......and it's darling.
Fun thing to think about!

Maui Karen
P.S. I don't know why I thought SJC was closer to Carmel. I got certified to scuba dive in Mission Bay near Carmel years ago and thought SJC was just down the road..........learn something new every day.
