Colonoscopy
Hey Lynn,
I had one just today! My first one ever. I had to drink the entire jug but it took me twice as long. While it tasted nasty, I was probably the cleanest colon in the country. My brother was recently diagnosed with colon cancer, so I was quite concerned; however, I only had one little polyp which is now gone. I also used this time as a means of getting back on track eating wise since I'd gotten out of control with the carbs!!
Let me know how yours goes!
Joyful hugs,
Connie

Hi, I just had my good ole colonoscopy about a month ago, oh what fun. My doctor just had me start to drink all of the jug about 11:00 in the morning so that I could have it all gone by 7:00. I did have to drink it all, and I did it, just took me longer and it also go me back on track.
Good luck
Blessings
Chrisy
I have had several colonoscopies, a few years ago I was having them every 3 months but now have graduated to every 3 years.................
I was able to drink that jug of stuff the first couple of times. After that just seeing it made me puke.
So I started doing what my DH does ( he only has 6 inches of his colon left). I go on clear liquids for 2 days and then the day before the procedure I take one small bottle of Fleet Phosva Soda fat 2 pm.f ollowed by a glass of water and two hours later about 4 ducloaxes then 2 hrs later ( about 6 pm))another bottle of fleet phosva soda. I make sure to drink clear liquids until about midnight the day before the procedure.
My surgeon always thought I drank that gallon of crap until the last one a month ago he knew I had the lap band and I told him I didn't think I could drink the jug of stuff. He advised me to do whatevery procedure my husband did, I had to smile at the nurse in the room cause we had been talking and I told her what I had done for the last few colonoscopies.
I would drink sprite for my clear liquids after I drank the fleet phosva soda ( I unscrewed the cap and let it sit in the refrigerator for a few hours to get rid of the fizz.
I don't want to advise you not to do what your Dr. says but this is what worked for me.
The important thing to remember . .. have those colonoscopies. If a polyp is found, it can be removed and polyps are the "root of all evil" (precursor to cancer). So no matter how miserable it is, it's only one moment in time. GET THOSE COLONOSCOPIES! And clean yourself out as best you can. That's my soapbox of the day, so far!
Joyful hugs,
Connie

Hey There,
I have been getting a colonoscopy every three years since I turned 35 (my father was diagnosed w/colin cancer at 47 and passed away at 48). Last year was my first colonoscopy since my surgery and my doctor told me that since I was GBS person, I wouldn't be able to drink that whole thing. Instead I do liquids only two days prior to the procedure... that night I take two Doculax... the following day (the day prior to the procedure), I drink 3 ounces of Fleet phospho-soda divided into two doses about three hours a part. Clear liquids after that and all is well.
Good luck,
Lou
Lou,
I am home from the procedure. I am still kinda groggy. They did not find anything wrong. The doctor said I have to restest in 5 years. I am going to save your response and ask next time if I can do the prep that you did. I had to take 4 Dulcolax laxatives yesterday at Noon and drink half the jug starting at 6pm. I only had to do clear liquids yesterday but I would be willing to do 2 days of clear liquids. How was the taste of the phospho-soda?
On our way home from the hospital today, I had my hubby drive me to Starbucks for a latte. I sure missed my coffee. Then when I got home I drank a protein shake.
