Hi Julia and Everyone! Congratulations on your WL suggess, Julia!  That's really a great accomplishment.   Margo, I'm really glad your first day on the new job went well.  Sounds like it will be interesting.  It's good to have lots of people around and even better someone you know.  I think that always helps in the adjustment to a new work environment.   Aime, feel better soon.  It's just yukky to be sick. I went to the patient education class at the hospital.  They put on an excellent presentation as far as the information.  The bad parts were even good parts I think.  It was in a very small conference room that would seat no more than 12 people.  I don't do all that well in a small room.  It was right on the floor with patient room so you get to see where you will be after surgery.  The floor was kinds of depressing to me.  Patients of all types were on this floor; not just WLS patients. Started with the head pharmacist talking about the drugs being used.  Then the dietician explaining you would be given two bottles of Isopure a day to sip on and hopefully get as close to the 80 protein as you can.  Then the nurse from the floor talked about your care.  The Physical Therapist explaining if he's needed what they do.  Then the OR nursing supervisor comes in with a slide show of a patient's experience and pictures of the surgical staff including the 3 different doctors who perform WL surgery at the hospital.  Finally, the surgical coordinator closes the day to see if anyone has any questions.  She gave the answers to the test questions they had sent.  The idea is to see if you need any information if you answered any questions wrong.  Their goal is to have you be as informed as they can make you before surgery.  Even better, it educates the support people each person brought with them as well.  My best friend who is a Nurse learned a few things as well.  She doesn't really support the surgery but supports me.  She even called me last night and asked me, "Are you sure you want to do this?"  But she had a bad experience with having stomach surgery several years ago and it's difficult for her. Anwyay........ today is another 2-week weigh-in day at the surgeon's office.  I plan to have them check on the approval status for getting this show on the road! Have a great day! Kathi

Oh my gosh was yesterday beautiful here in the ozarks, 80 and sunny, i stayed out in it as much as possible yesterday, would run in the house only to use bathroom or grab a protein drink or another bottle of water. I drank like a fish yesterday seems lol  We got so much done in the yard yesterday. I have to make another trip to the store to buy some more Preen, once i get done weeding a bed i spread that stuff out thick so i wont have to weed it again for the summer, it last about 3 months. That stuff is worth its weight in gold. Which is about what it  cost. lol  Yesterday evening we went out fishing on the boat, the lake is still extreemly high and no one is catching fish but was nice to try. I found out i dont need a fishing lic. at least there are some perks with getting old lol .  Has any of you gardeners ever started cannas by seed? I ordered some and have now soaked them overnight , going to go out and plant them in awhile , Hopefully i will get more cannas from them...,will see,  today is suppose to be rain ...is cloudy but no rain yet.

thank you for getting us started Julia.  My oh my, you are doing very well. Our RNY support meeting was super good. We have 2 people scheduled for surgery within the next couple of weeks. They asked excellent questions and took notes. I think they will both do an excellent job after WLS. Our post-op meeting was better than ever. We open up and share such intimate details of our lives after surgery. Such diversified women with common issues. I love the support meetings!!! Thanks to all who wrote comment about my pictures. I was rather nervous about sharing, but you all made me feel GOOOD! Annette

It's near 60 here this morning at about 10:15. I've been to the hospital to have blood drawn, then took myself out for a nice breakfast.....tried eggs and they are not sitting well AGAIN. Guess maybe I'll never be able to eat them
soft cooked.

Went on to Wal Mart and found some mint green pretty embossed fabric that I am going to make pillow shams out of. Finally got my new bedspread, it's white, but the curtains are mint green, so this will look nice, at least I think so. Also picked up some hem lace because a new top I bought has too short of a sleeve - think I can get at least an inch longer by adding the lace as a hem. Looked at tops at Wal Mart and they all had sleeves that were way too short.....don't like my flabby upper arms exposed!!

Worked in the yard yesterday afternoon getting my north bed ready to plant roses....will wait a couple more weeks though as it is still really cold here at night.

Someone was posting about Preen - yeah, I really love that stuff - don't have to pull weeds much all summer, and I mulch all my beds too.

Got my reward necklace Saturday and wore it to church Sunday, as I was taking it off when I got home, the brand new $120 chain BROKE.....was I upset. Took it back to the jeweler and he is replacing it with another one called a "wheat" chain, he says it will hold up better.

Well, think I will work on the cross stitch project for a while.....it's coming along but still a lot of back stitching to do.

Julia - congrats on your fantastic weight loss......I am struggling, but finally broke 220 as I weighed in Sunday at 219. Onederland here I come!!!

Pat: Meijer's tops sleeves are pretty good.  They always seem to have them on sale at a good price, too.

Good morning!! I've had a miserable night.  Colonoscopy prep is definitely not the way to spend an evening; however, it's certainly better than the alternative which is unknown colon cancer.  I never did have my screening when I turned 50, but when my brother was diagnosed with colon cancer in March I realized I had better do something.  So off to Reno I go today. The advantage is that I've cleaned myself out, and my pouch is ready to start anew.    Back to the basics!!!!
Joyful hugs,
Connie

Thanks for the start up Julia!  Good morning everybody! Try as I might, I never got around to posting on What's New yesterday 'cept for a couple of responses to to a few people. Please keep one of my coworkers in your prayers.  She's one of our lab techs and is six months pregnant.  She didn't look good at lunch yesterday and said she was leaving early.  At 3:00 her husband called to say she was in the hospital and it looked like the baby was coming early.  All along her pregnancy has gone smoothly as did her first pregnancy 3 years ago.  We're all anxious to hear from her or her family. Sat. was almost another wash out for us - lots of rain again!  Early afternoon it started to clear somewhat.  George and I ran a few errands.  We brough his suit to be altered (letting out the seams as much as possible).  The oriental lady who does alterations at the dry cleaners declared, "You eat too much!"  Don't know about George, but I sure could have slapped the crap out of her.  I'm really surprised he didn't tell her off and take his suit somewhere else.  It's people who eat too much (or in some cases too little) who keep her in business!   Sun. George went fishing and I went to see Baby Momma - afterward did a little shopping. Well, I had three good days with Dr. Butthead last week.  This week he's back to his same  "lovable" self!  Yesterday he said that surgeon sure saw you coming and thought he'd make a lot of money off you.  You didn't NEED surgery on that thumb.  You know you'll probably never regain complete movement in your thumb again.  I told him at least it doesn't hurt to type anymore, so that's a plus.  About an hour later he passed by my desk and said his back has been hurting for over three weeks maybe he should go to a surgeon and let him cut him up.  I wish someone would cut out his razor sharp tongue!  Old fart!   He never lets anything go.  Over a month ago A. H. (a girl who works here) made a mistake.  It did not concern him at all.  He found out about it by eavesdropping on a conversation and has repeatedly commented to A. H.  Yesterday he went and stood by her desk and started in again.  She told him her mistake didn't involve her at all and he should get out of her face!  GO A. H.!   He came back through my office mumbling something about the sassy little slacker!  All I could do was grin!  If anyone can put him in his place, it's A. H., she's a real firecracker - all of 4' 10", but will stand up to the 6' men in this dept. Debbie

Good afternoon to all my OFF family. I hope that today is treating all of you well. I did some things around here this morning and got some phone calls done. That is the reason why I am so late at getting on here to post. There is some other things that I wanted to do but I don't think I am going to get to them this afternoon. WLS support group is tonight. It is going to be on post op body image. I am not sure how I am going to do with that one. My body image right now isn't to good. I am hoping that what I learn tonight might help. lol I think I am always going to look at myself as a fat person. Sometimes I feel different but not often. Does that ever improve? Just wondering. I am going to go to the grocery store in the morning. I was going to go today but when I got up I just wasn't in the mood. I figured that I had enough of everything until tomorrow and so decided that was shopping day here. I like being able to change my mind and do things at other times. I would like to get a job but then some of my options would change too. Hmmmmm. I still think that I would like to get a part time job. That would solve everything. I still would have time to do what I want and still be out with the public and working again. I miss that so much. I was going to mention something on here but a senior moment ha**** and for some reason I just can't remember what I was going to talk about. What am I talking about "for some reason"? I know what the reason is~it's a senior moment for heavens sake!! Need I say more?!?! Better get going. I am sending love and hugs to all and prayers too. Special ones are going up for those who need them. See ya all later on.

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.
