What's New- TUESDAY!
OK- I'm back.... I wanted to just say that even though I've been busy I do keep reading your posts when I get a few moments during the day. I just have 3 and a half weeks left of school, so things that have to be done before that last day are making life hectic. I feel the end in sight though. We had our school carnival on Friday night and the Relay for Life on Saturday and Sunday, so those huge tasks are now behind me. Our little, poor school made over $10,000 for the Relay and we won for the TOP Decorated School- purple reigned here! I sold about a hundred pink ribbon bracelets. I was making them all day at the event. Now I have about three parent meetings to fit in and I need to test children and write reports and plans for the three. I also need to squeeze in therapy sessions as usual.
My weight loss has been steady, though I would love to be losing faster. I am very close to 90 pounds down- I just had my 5 month surgiversary on May 3rd. The size 20 pants that I bought 2 weeks ago are loose already. I went today to get 18s- I tried them on tonight and they already fit, so I will be running to get 16s and 14s before the end of the week. I need summer clothing to get me through this one summer- hopefully I will get what I need before they start stocking the Fall stuff.... it gets very hot here. You sure were not kidding when you told me about this ride!
I'd better get to bed now.... I hope you will all have a beautiful day!

Morning my OFF friends,
We were sound asleep this morning when our neighbor's car alarm went off at 4:45. It's very sensitive, goes off during thunder storms, which doesn't bother us since we're usually awake anyway. So, I'd love to find out which neighbor it belongs to and whack him a good one, but Gary says his wife probably has beaten me to it. Of course, it's a great assumption that it's a man's vehicle, huh?
I bought a GREAT book this weekend..."Eat This, Not That", written by the Editor of Men's Health Magazine. It compares different menu items for all sorts of restaurants and fast food chains that are the good choices vs. the bad ones, and why. Very interesting stuff. It also talks about holiday eating and choosing the right things at the grocery store. It's shocking to see the calorie/fat count of some of our favorites, as well as things you THINK are good choices that aren't.
Well, time to pack up Gary's lunch and get moving for the day. Hope everyone has a dandy Tuesday!
Love you all
Susan
Good Morning Julia,
Great to see someone on this side of the states started the thread. I try to stay up to post but just cannot seem to get pass the 10 o'clock hour.
I will be walking in the Raley for life this Saturday in Sacramento. I am walking with a someone who had the WLS surgery a month after me. Happy to read that everything is going great for you. Sounds like you are getting alot of WOW moments. I, too read this thread everyday but I have been so busy that I have not had time to post. If I miss a morning I feel like my day did not get off to a good start.
My weight is coming off so so so slow. I am 8 pounds away from a normal BMI.A total lost of 167 pounds in alittle over 10 months. I love it.
Hope everyone has a great week. I am off to the gym before work.

Hi Julia and everyone:
Julia, good to see you back on here. My brother is involved in the Relay for Life; he walks in it every year with his church in Wisconsin. I always pledge some money for him. This year it's in memory of my friend Gloria, who died two years ago of chondrosarcoma, a rare form of cancer that forms in the cartilage, and of course Bruce, who has Hodgkins and isn't doing well ... he is having night sweats, itching and is losing weight. My guess is he isn't going to make it to Christmas. He has asked Gary (my brother) if he could use his timeshare to rent a condo in Hawaii to sit on the beach and watch the sunsets. I think the end might be near. I wish they'd find a cure for this disease; it's taken too many of my friends and family (my dad died of colon cancer).
I had a rough time last night. Told you finances were tight; well, last night the phone company turned off my phone. It so depressed me; I didn't know what I was going to do today. I sure didn't have money although I knew my tax rebate check was coming this week. I worried about it so much I couldn't sleep. Then my knee and my right leg started bothering me. After trying for awhile to sleep, I gave up and went back out into the living room and watched TV for another two hours ... burying myself in make-believe problems was much better than thinking about my own.
This morning, checked my bank account and the tax rebate money was there. So I was able to pay my phone bill and get my service turned back on. And I was able to pay the computer geek for Windows XP so I can get my computer back. So all is right with the world again!. Boy, did things seem dark last night, though.Don't have much left of my check ... but at least I was able to pay a couple of bills with it. And then I made a chocolate zucchini cake for our night security guard's birthday, which is today. He's an old guy from England who is so nice to all of us; he has no family here and he has been hinting about a birthday cake for awhile since I made my own cake a couple of week back. Making the cake was fun; I'll go down and have a little piece later tonight.
I think probably a lot of my pains are stress-induced because I feel worse when I'm worried. I wish I could worry less but I don't know when that will be.
Well, that's all for today. Have a good night.
Morning from a coughing and sneezing Baltimorean. Ugh, I feel lousy. I ended up leaving work about 1:30 yesterday and dropping into bed. I slept until 6. I will be staying home today. I had planned to take today off anyway for some doctor appointments. I see my kidney specialist and my wl sugeon today. I don't know as yet, but I may try to squeeze in a quickie with my pcp over this nose deal. I did put a few grains of salt in the cpap water last night. I noticed some difference in things this morning. I'm not as congested or sore.
I hope everyone has a great Tuesday.

The love of my OH Family has me humbled!!!!
good morning julia and all OFFdom !
it's good to see someone different start the thread this morning! thanks for the get go!!!!i can't believe it's been 5 months already for you julia! WOW!!!!!! your progress is inspirational and your outlook is always so great!!!!
i want to thank all of my well wishers from yesterday! the new job is good...1st day stuff of paperwork and orientation ..and only working 4 hours so it was a breeze! today we will start learning some of the computer stuff but it will take time...there will eventually -possibly-be opportunity for more hours so i will watch the job posting boards! i came home very tired tho-my eyes were tired and i dunno why! i have to tell a neat thing--as i was walking toward the clerk of courts' office to report for my first day- i see a gal i had worked with at kmart--one of the few that i really could relate to and enjoyed-sitting on a bench in the hall with another woman--turns out she was one of the three that were hired!!whoooo hooooooo so julie and i had a good reminisce of the kmart crew and it will be nice to have her there to work with--she is a good hard worker and a fun gal!
since i only work 4 hours right now;meals are not a problem tho i still have to watch that low sugar thing - so i can easily have a snack if i need to -yesterday i ate a protein bar about 1030--the area that we work in is very confined-it's a room in the basement that i have no clue what it used to be used for! but--it is very close to a very nice clean bathroom and we have a coffee pot right in our "room"--it's a little close in the quarters dept right now- one gal hasn't left yet so we have an extra body and there were 3 of us hired and one gal on a grant -sooo-staffing wise- there are 7 of us in there right now!ouch!and today warren, the head clerk, will be there to instruct! also, many ppl seem to wander in and out to chit chat so it could actually get somewhat distracting..we'll see!
so--nothing else new here- michael hung a load of laundry out for me and i brought them in- love that smell of freshly air dryed sheets and towels! we hung a big blanket and a comforter last nite-hope they did well overnight! should be dry by the time i get home at noon.
really nothing else-oh-my wrists and hands hurt but that's from all of the staple removing i did yesterday-will get better i hope!
i'll be very anxious to read a report from kathikins after yesterday!!!!
and annette and maui karen's kitty antics- my callie is a blah cat...no lovin or snugglin -almost never--and no real "antics"--ah well- roxie makes up for it!!!!
hope that everyone has a great day! if you are in indiana or north carolina please get out to vote!!!!
hugs and prayers from ohio!
Edit: a deer !!!!! looking out my kitchen sink window i finally saw a deer this morning!! one of the neighbors has been telling us that they are near our back yard --i had seen one early early on in our living here-and today i saw it --on the bike trail behind our yard--beautiful!!i am always in awe!!!!!
