Karen, Alas, there is still the unreasonable fear of flying to conquer. Hawaii sounds like the perfect place to live; with or without snakes. You paint such beautiful pictures for us. Someday - sigh - I hope to see for myself

I'm back. Miss Midge is determined that it is time to get up. So I made some coffee, put on my warm long robe and will start the day.  I love seeing the sun rise. Yesterday brought more changes.  Daisy found a home in Oregon with a wonderful couple who are friends of our friends. I am so happy that we have found good homes for the puppies. It has been so much fun having them; just not very good timing with everything else going on.

Yesterday they started framing our new home. Five industrious workers. Man, did they get a lot done. I kept looking for the one from the Coke commercials a few years ago.  Anyone remember him? What a hunk.  Didn't find him!

Did I tell you that we're ending up with about  1000 sq ft of storage in what we thought would just be a crawl space? Turned out to be about 10 feet high so we just decided to concrete the whole thing. We'll have stairs down and rough in the wiring and plumbing, put a door and a couple of windows. May not be used for anything but hotwheel riding and storage, but if and when we sell the house it would definitely add value to the home. The house will sit higher on the lot that we thought. I'm afraid that the 3-4 steps down to the lawn will be more like 7-8. No problem for me, but it sure can be for Mike. But like the saying goes, "It is what it is."  The framers are working today too. By Tuesday we should have framed in rooms. That gets us both excited. I'm a very visual person. I need to "see" things in 3D. Just on paper is hard for me.

Mike has started what looks like a serious attempt to get some weight off. I'm trying to help by putting on the table only what we should eat.  He'll go for it if it's in front of him. I don't need to do that either.  I'm encouraging him and me to watch our portions. I have a built in helper; he doesn't.

My list for this coming week is huge: carpets cleaned, windows cleaned, vacuum furniture, clean house, get dog groomed (Maggie is definitely due for a "spa day."), make hair cut appt for me, make 90,000 mile appt for my Honda, put mulch in front flower beds. . . I've about got the house decluttered and we're finishing up the storing, hanging of a few pictures, rearranging furniture to make it look roomier. What a job! But I must admit it looks much better. I am a creature of habit and I love to have lots of my things around me.  Too many things!

I planted some colorful annuals yesterday. Annette, we don't have to worry about snakes here in town, but I did read about a 3 FOOT earthworm not far from here.  Sounds like a snake to me! I hate slimy, crawly things.

I think I'll make a cup of coffee, hit the hot tub, and watch the sun rise. You all have a wonderful day.

Karen that sounds so exciting to see your house going up from start to finish. I have never had a new home built. but love to see things being built and love the sounds that come from it.

Annette yeah for you , nothing like gardening. also there is sprays and stuff that you can get to spray around the outside edge of your property to keep snakes from coming into your yard. Check at feed stores . There is nothing like caring for a garden .

Candy im with you on the year round gardening. We were threated with light frost here last night and of course i went out and used every sheet i could find that i keep for just this. I have a stack in my garden house of about 100 sheets. all my iris have big buds on them and frost would have ruined them. Peonies too. lots of other plants and such. I have a big weigilia bush that is loaded with buds. it took four sheets to cover it , it is so big. good thing my husband shares my love for gardeni ng too because the two of us together took about 3 hours to cover this stuff. Now i have 3 acres of covered plants that looks like a field of ghosts. lol

Todays first order of business is to get all the sheets off the plants and then they will need to get dried so i can fold them to put back in my shed .

hopefully granddaughter will come down today with great grandbabies it is suppose to be 72 today and sunny.

got to run.

jan; your sheet story reminds me of the almost two weeks leading up to out wedding in 2000 michael had built an arbor of grapevines and we had it next to a rose garden- we had planted silver lace vine on it and it grew and was gorgeous! so--we 're getting married sweetest day oct 19 2002--family and friends in the garden and white wooden chairs rented -the whole thing! --ok--it gets cold! so - he takes big cardboard (refrig box type) and makes a frame for it-(the arbor) and then covers with sheets and a comforter -anything he can find--and puts an electric heater underneath with a long extension cord--so every morning he is out there removing the sheets etc--one morning he forgot and i am out there on a ladder in my skirt and pantihose (i worked at dillard's) taking all of this off--the plants needed the sun in the daytime and the weight of the comforter would have crushed them...it was very beautiful the day we got married!  when we moved; we took the arbor with us-but when we moved here we left it-and the next person whacked it down-sad.... with teh sheets and comforter it was a site!!!!  this week he has moved all of the hibiscus out doors- and i am afraid they will get cold- last nite was windy -not sure what the temp went down to-he says they are ok--i know he will be crushed if they die off....

Hi Ya Karen, I so enjoy reading your post.  Glad to hear the new home is moving along.  When you mentioned the steps I thought I would share our solution for the stairs.  We had a ramp built next to our steps, I used to ride my power chair up the ramp and right on into the house.  Since WLS, I've been using the ramp to hang our Kayaks on, they drip dry there very well.  Later, Peg

Hi Karen and all! I bet it's sad to say goodbye to the puppy babies, that would be hard. How does Maggie feel about it? They are some cute pups! I have been wanting another dog. A bigger one this time, like an Australian Shepard or border collie. But when it rains and I see all the mud...or when we want to go off for the night or day... Prob won't get one but I like to think about it. Had fun scrapbooking...ate candy, and some chips...I don't feel bad about it though... didn't go nuts and don't feel the need for more. After church taking Beth back to school. Have so much to do since I wasn't home all weekend but I'm thinking a nap would be my choice later today. I am tired! Tom is heading to New Jersey this week to rewire his father's home so his mom can sell it. I hate when he is gone and I am here alone. Big old house, too many noises. He did fix the locks on the bedroom and bathroom to be working locks now. They are old fashioned locks that use a skeleton key...kinda neat. So weird...I have lots of laundry to do and my dreams were of laundry last night...kept trying to to it and the washer would fill and then wash and before I could get the clothes out to put in dryer it would start a cycle again and wash the clothes again...weird... Looks like we are finally getting spring weather. Love it! Well, have a lovely Sunday all, Take Care, Cheryl

Good morning, Karen and all my other OFF sisters. I am so glad that we meet here in the mornings or the afternoons depending on our days. I look so forward to this everyday.  Today is sunny but kind of cool. I like it warmer but I guess that will come in time. I have the patio door open. It should be closed a bit but I like the fresh air.  I am leaving for church in a few. I have to stop and get my girlfriend. Her car is in the shop so I told her that I would get her since we are the ushers today. I would rather usher with her than anyone. I would have gotten her even if we weren't ushers. Today is the only day that I usher. I like doing it but am kind of glad that after today there isn't anything I have to do during a service for a while.  Misty is looking out over her back 40. She looks like she is sitting there and going to sleep. She hears the birds chirpping and she watches for them. Just a bit ago she was running all over the house like a fool. She is just a laugh and I enjoy her so much. I sometimes sit and wonder what we did without her here. She is so much company to me when Bill is working during the afternoon too.  I have to go to the funeral home this afternoon. My one girlfriends mother passed away the other day. She was 92 and had been sick for a just a while. I guess she had a heart attack and no one knew it. They found her at the nursing home without any vitals and got her breathing again and she was doing pretty good but then she died later on in the hospital. She had Alzheimers's too so she wasn't really herself either.  I better get going. I have to leave for church in just a few minutes and I have a couple of things to do before I scoot out the door. I hope that all of you have a wonderful and blessed day. I am saying prayers for everyone and special ones for those who need them weather they be for physical or emotional healing. I am sending my love and hugs to all. Talk to you all later on.

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.
