What's New, Wednesday!

Hi Nancy and Everyone, Good to see you posting the What's New thread today.

Busy at work today as one person is off today.  It's still early so it's fairly quiet yet.  Quiet is good.

Hubby's doctor's visit yesterday was filled with angst for me.  The doctor really spelled out the severity of his COPD and Emphysema.  I could tell hubby hadn't really confronted it before yesterday so I am hoping it is sinking in for him.  The doctor prescribed medicine for the blockage they found in his legs but clearly said he would advise against doing any bypass in the legs because of the lung problems.  He also changed some of the inhaler medication.  Well, that was fine until I called the mail-order pharmacy to discover medicines are out of formularly and a 3-month supply would be almost $700.  Hubby will not accept that so today I must work with the doctor's office to get pre-authorization approval for the meds.

The doctor also said one way to assist his lungs is to walk on a treadmill.  It's better because it's in a controlled environment opposed to outdoors.  Try to walk for 6 minutes at a slow, steady pace.  (Hard for him because "hurry" is really his middle name!)  So..... now I'm in the market for a treadmill and adjust the small condo to make room for it!  Oh joy.  But... it justifies having one for me to use too so it's all good!  Hubby will never be able to get to 6 minutes of walking in his condition but we have to try.  We will try.  Take care everyone and have a great Wednesday, Kathi

hi all ! nancy; i went to bed at 1:49--almost started the thread but decided it wasn't for me to do today! glad to see your beautiful face on here!!! about paul--make sure you put lots of chickies in the freezer at home before you leave-you'll be missing those!!! yesterday we finally got the proper belt for our riding lawn mower-it's an ancient model of a sears mower and so the part is hard to find--well; we got it and m put it on and i got my wish to ride for a bit--it helps the cobwebs-problem was that it was brrrr chilly out there -even with long pants and sweatshirt over my t --well- and i could only cut in 2nd gear as it was tall grass!!!! i accomplished what i set out for and that's important! the lot next door (which used to belong to our property) has been vacant (is unbuildable) and so i offered to mow it if i can use it for my laundry and a veg garden--(actually i am going to buy it on land contract but don't tell michael yet!). i spent hours last nite trying to find documentation on my gg grandmother- i know when she was born and when she married and when she died but i need proof for the DAR app--and she is one of those who fell between the record dates for deaths etc...and she is crucial here!!!!! when i finally went to bed i could hardly see the computer screen anymore!!! i could not believe that it was 930 when i woke up this morning! ouch! only a few more days of leisure-actually i am anxious to start working again! get some order to my life i hope! i wish to thank all who took the time to read my posts yesterday-and i apologize for seeming whiny and childish -those who knwo me know that i was hurting ...putting my fears out there really helps me--i'm a long way from understanding them or dealing with them but it helped to talk about them! i'm not sure what today holds other than continuing to try to find proof of my minnie howard nelson!!!!! sending hugs and prayers -enjoy the sunshine if you 've got it!!!it does wonders for the soul!!!

G-morning.. That silly Pedicoat Junction song ( changed a *****as been running through my head since I woke up late and have been running. " I'm Not uncle Joe but I'm moving kinda slow at the Junction....Petticoat Junction) I soo wanted to call in today and take a mental health day..really do a million things before Liz's shower day. But I sucked it up just to come in and find a note from the boss." I am gone all day today for meetings..grrrr and I have about 30 minutes of work..You know what will settle in then, Bordom...The one letter missing from HALT..btw thanks for sharing that , I will look at it before I eat  to see why I am really eatting. I am so jazzed  I spent an hour and a half at  the photo machine  at the local HyVee yesterday. copying  pictures  of liz on to a CD. I will do a "life of Liz " at her shower. They came out well , now tonight I will work with th eequipment at church to see if I can get them to run on the screen. The poor lady behind me. There are 3 machines at this store and I did warn her, she only had one picture to copy andended up waiting for 20 minutes. I can't believe I got over 60 pictures on a disc and it cost me less that $3. When I called Chuck yesterday after work he actuall said "why don't you stay home tonight and take it easy?" That makes me think he is going to want something above and beyond the call of duty in a few days. Isn't it sad that I have to be suspious? Well off I go ..Have a blessed day

Good Morning Nancy & Sistas and Brothers! It is nice to see you doing the thread this morning and happy to hear that your new venture is building and I don't know much about facebook, but I'll try to check it out sometime. . .  wishing you the best in resigning and the new business!

Having a slow morning here at work, but things can pick up anytime. . .  this evening I will be making my trip to the gym and then home to bed, such an exciting day planned (lol). . .  but I did have a nice conversation with my daughter this morning, she is now officially a college graduate, though she chose not to do the ceremony thing, she passed her last course, a statistics course with a B and on Monday, she starts the nursing program, which will own her life for the next 15 or is it 18 months?  can't remember, but whatever it is, I told her that when it seems hard, to just remember she is in pursuit of her dream and that sometimes making dreams come true takes hard work and persistence, I am so proud of her, as I am of all my children, but Angela, is my baby and while she is very smart, school has always been hard work for her, well she perservered and it is extra special to me to see her achievements!

Not much else to say, just want to stay connected, prayers and positive thoughts going out for all!

Laureen

Hello Nancy and everyone: Good to see your new venture taking off, Nancy. It is rewarding to start something new. Don't know if I would have the discipline to go off like that and start a business. I need a deadline and someone (a boss) to prod me.  Not much new with me. Slept pretty well last night, so I guess the new med, neurotonin, that the pain clinic PA gave me is working. Although I did notice I woke up with kind of swollen fingers. But the side effects don't list that ... they say swollen ankles; don't have swollen ankles, just some water retention. Weighed myself this morning and lost two of the three pounds I gained yesterday; I thought it must be water weight!  As I said, slept well, until 10, then Scooter jumped up on the bed for a cuddle, followed by Nettie; we all snuggled for about a half hour until I decided I had to get up. Had breakfast, coffee, did my exercising, had lunch (crab, mac & cheese and a salad), watched the Sox lose, tried to take a nap because I was sleepy but couldn't; now I'm at work. Typical day, nothing fancy. Tomorrow I have to get up earlier because I have to go see the gyne doc for an endometrial sampling ... yuck! She gave me some medication she said will relax my cervix and hopefully it won't be as painful as the last two times I've had this done. But I'm prepared ... I'm taking a vicodin when I get into the office. She wants to do this because I had some unexpected bleeding in March and because of my history of obesity; she needs to check my uterus to see if there's any problems up there. Wish me luck! Well, guess I should do some work. With any luck, when I get extra money next week, I should get my computer back.
