Tale of the Starbucks Sistahs cup
As I was traveling to Chicago this weekend, I took along my Starbucks mug with the faces of my Dallas OFF Sistahs to be filled at Starbucks (or other coffee stops) along the way. The first place I stopped was the Starbucks down the road in Grandville, MI. The barista behind the counter turned it around and around and was admiring it; I asked if she wanted to hear the story of it; she said yes, so I told her and she thought it was so cool. (She also liked that you called Starbucks $4, Janet ... everybody got a chuckle at that one.) While I was telling the story there, other people stopped to listen, and they all enjoyed the telling as well.
On Sunday, on the way back from Chicago, I stopped at the Starbucks in Franklin Park, Ill., down the road from my mom's. I was complaining that all they had for drip coffee was Pike Street Roast, and that I liked to sample their other coffees so I could decide what beans I liked to buy. Then the people behind the counter had to ask about the mug, so I told them the story. Then the manager looked at the cup and she heard my comments; she asked what my favorite coffee was, I told her Casi Cielo; a few minutes later after we were talking, she had one of the baristas come out with a bag of casi cielo beans. So I got some free beans out of this conversation.
This mug is a conversation starter and you can get free coffee beans out of it!
I also stopped at the Starbucks in Portage, Ind., just down the road from you, Brenda, and told the story there; they loved it too.
So to all my Dallas Sistahs ... take along your mug, show it proudly, tell the story and who knows ... maybe you'll get some free coffee too!
As thanks to Janet for organizing the Dallas trip, we each had a photo taken at a local Starbucks, and Diane U. put them in a collage and put the collage on a Starbucks grande mug (you can get these at Starbucks and put any photos in it). Diane then made extra collages that we could get, but she asked for $1 for printing costs. Pretty cheap, huh? It had all our photos on it, plus the first Starbucks in Seattle. It's so precious to me and always brightens my day to see all my OFF friends, many of whom I met in Dallas last October.
Hi. I am glad you are enjoying your mugs. Janet, your face wasn't on there because I made the mug for you....should have changed it for the others that wanted one. I can still do that and e-mail it. Who knew??!! Diane
