I ran across this and thought I would post it on the board for those of us who are still a little afraid of having wls.   Sharon D.                                                                                                                                                          The health risk of operations like Roux-en-Y bypass are relatively small and getting smaller. As medical data improves along with the skill and experience of surgeons, bariatric treatments are becoming safer. In general, while there is a risk of dying during or after stomach bypass, most patients achieve significant improvements in co-morbidities like heart disease, lung function, blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, and some cancers, and seem to live longer.v

I'm still waiting on my approval, so when I ran across that statement it really made me feel safe and more confident about my surgery.  Sharon D.

My last set of labs came back showing no signs of diabetes. That in itself is the best reason for this surgery.

Thanks so much for that bit of info!  I go back and forth about is the risk worth it but your statement makes so much sense. I just logged on for my daily "fix" of encouragement from this messageboard.  You all are so Great!! Alice
