All my wows and good things: Walk with feet straight Touch the floor with my fingers Bend over and still breath Walk for as long as I want, right now we walk 3 miles a day Enjoy shopping for clothes in much smaller and cuter styles Being able to work outside for longer peroids of time Nothing seems to hard for me to do I can reach things up higher because the belly isn't in the way Shoes don't hurt any more I still don't like house work but I am able to do it with ease Exercising still isn't fun but I don't dread it as much Seeing bones that I never knew where there Being smaller than the old man Being called skinny which I know isn't true but nice to hear Wanting to look as nice as possible, primping Looking at clothes and thinking those must be to small and they fit Please send me any thing else you can think of. I know there must be a million things we are wowed about.  Birdy OH certified support group leader.

Birdy,  I too am thankful for the accomplishments WLS has afforded me.  Its so amazing sometimes how you are able to do things you really did not know you couldn't do.  Just looking better in the clothes that I have and feeling better about myself. My daughters told me that I don't have large shoulders and they just realized it.  I really feel great. Z

I can cross my legs. There's room for me and two dogs (OK, small ones, but TWO of them) in my favorite armchair. I can walk 30 min without getting out of breath. I can shop for clothes in regular-size departments. I had to move my car seat forward to drive comfortably - it used to be further back because there was so much of me jammed in there behind the steering wheel. There's plenty of room in airplane seatbelts now. I can fit in restaurant booths without any problem. I can fit in theatre seats comfortably. My rings are all loose. I had to get a new medic alert bracelet because my old one fell off my wrist. I had to change the fastening of my leather-strapped watch because my wrist is smaller. My tops are no longer food-stained on the belly because my belly doesn't stick out as much. When I was going through Immigrations on my return to the recently, the immigrations official told me I need a new passport photo. My cholesterol, triglycerides, and blood sugar levels are all normal now.

A hospital admissions clerk told me I don't look anything like my drivers license photo when I registered to have blood work done recently. I can sit on the floor and then get up again without a crane to lift me. Jean

Hi Birdy. Right now I am wondering what WLS hasn't done for me. I owe so much to it and to all of you wonderful people here.  Crossing my legs Weighing less than my DL says I do Wearing smaller clothes  Sitting in booths and having plenty of room Eating less than Bill does Loving me now as I am warts and all Going through the turnstyle at Mendards and not going sideways Going up stairs without panting Feeling bones I didn't know I had Bending over and touching the floor Sitting in a seat at the movies and having lots of left over space Sitting in my recliner and Misty fitting between me and the arm I could go on and on but my senior moment has come and I have forgotten some of them. Once I got on here and talked with everyone I wanted the surgery even more. I am so thankful to the surgery and those who got me to where I am today. I am not who I want to be for the rest of my life but I am a work in progress and that is what I am going to be for the rest of my life.

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.

Being pain free!! No back or leg pain.  Crossing my knees.   Rehabbing so much easier after my recent knee replacement.. compared to the ones done years past..when I was in severe pain.  wearing regular sized clothes.  I can get out of low chairs and couches now.  And many many other wonderful things.. To many to remember and to list. Just this whole new life I have been given.     Alice

Good job and great WOWs Birdy! I agree with all of the lists above, with the addition of the following....         ---The shower stall is bigger!! Can pick up the soap when it falls in there, too!       ---While in the Bathroom....well, I won't give TMI, but you all know what is easier!!!!         ---No longer perspiring when walking or just hanging around!       ---Not embarrassed to grocery shop.       ---Wearing my son's (he is 13) outgrown hoodies and shirts.       ---Getting on the scale in the doctors' offices when asked, instead of refusing. Well, there are so many more, but I have to go make dinner now.  Oh yeah, my back doesn't hurt anymore when I am preparing meals in the kitchen or when doing dishes! Have a WOW day! Hugs, Lora

Great post! WLS has given me a life that I never thought could be mine!  I can stay on the Eliptical for an hour!  I can flex muscles that never showed before!  I can wear my shirts tucked in!  I can wear short shorts.  I never have to worry about the store not having clothes big enough for me.  I can ride a horse without breaking his back.  I can ride in a banana boat without worrying about my side sinking, I just made reservations for a hot air balloon ride--before wls I wouldn't have done that!  I can cross my legs and tie my own shoes!  I can sit in the beautitian's chair and not worry about breaking the hydraulic mechanism! There's just so many things, I think we can all pretty much write a short story of our own! Wanda
