My pcp has not send my weight loss papers to my wls Doctor and she has had them since Feb.  When I ask her about them she  says I will get them out I am just behind.  She wanted me to have the lap band at first and my wls suggested the RNY. I don;t know if my pcp is slacking on my papers because she doesn't want me to have the RNY or if she is really that far behind on her paper work.  I have already had and paid for my Nut. and Psychologist.  I don't know what to do I wanted to have my surgery before summer so I could enjoy being outside and being with my family.   The wls clinic has called my pcp and tried to get the papers faxed to them and so far nothing. I am ready to forget this surgery and try by myself to lose this 100 lbs. of weight that I am carrying around. It is so furstrating and the waiting is driving me out of my mind. If anyone has any suggestions on how I might find out what's up with my pcp please help.  I want to lose this weight but I also want to keep what mind I have lol.  Thanks for listening to me rattle on and on.  Sharon D.

I would call the pcp office everyday.  The squeeky wheel gets the grease.

Sharon, one of my favorite sayings is "I am going to become your worst nightmare!" and I do! Like Reggie says, the squeeky wheel gets the grease. Become a nightmare squeeky wheel. Keep us posted on the happenings. You have to become your own advocate because no one else will do it for you. Good luck.

I am sorry but paperwork is never really done by the Doc..it is handed to the staff to do.  Did you give a sample letter to your Doc as to what need to be said for approval?  Maybe doc needs help with wording.  Such as medical necessity?  I would do as the others suggested and call...call..call.  The staff will bug the doc to get it done. Be your own advocate as suggested.  This is your life don't give up!

It is His love and grace that saved and sustains me.

ask for a copy and deliver them to your surgeon yourself. You will need to be your own advocate from here out.

I know how frustrated you must be.   I had the same thing happen to me.   I first started with lap band and the insurance wouldn't approve then I started with my surgeon for the Vertical Band I jumped through all the hoops and had tons of problem getting the paperwork from PCP.     I wanted to give up many times but Debbie Gring kept telling me no keep on them.  So I started documenting and calling everyday and emailing my PCP and it finally worked.  Insurance did deny the vertical band but surgeon came back and said we would do the RNY and I was finally approved.   I'm so glad now I didn't give up.   I had surgery on January 15 and am down 60 pounds so don't give up stay on them!! Good Luck!

You need to become as assertive as possible.  Just as the others have said, don't let the PCP ruin this for you.  They (PCP)may be complacent, but you must inform them how important the time element is here.  Sometimes the insurance companies look at the time frames, so let the pcp know this.  Perhaps the office manager can help...call them and explain the situation.  You did everything you had to, now it is in their hands.  Remind them of the hoops you have jumped through and this is such an emotional rollercoaster for you.  Sometimes, tears help too!  They did for me.   You may even ask the office manager if you can come in to try and expedite the matter quicker.  I say whatever it takes....be your best and loudest advocate!!  Don't sit back and get sad..get mad so this show can get on the road!! Good luck! Lora
