Rny post diet vs lap-band???

Hey there, Gastric by passers, do you have to do a liquid diet the first four  weeks post op too? Bev...lap-bander to bee 

no, just 2 weeks, then mushie foods.

Mine was 4 weeks liquid, then 4 weeks puree, then 3 weeks soft, then I could start adding regular foods.

I started on soft foods the 3rd day after surgery, in the hospital before I was discharged. They served scrambled eggs and fruit ****tail and jello.  I am on soft stage til Thursday which will be 6 weeks out, and can start trying new foods.  I am really looking forward that!  I had to do a 3 day liquid diet before surgery.  Seem like every Dr. is different!

Beverly,  Have you not had your lap band done yet?  I just had mine put in 4/14/08 and I am now on pureed foods.  I will be on those for 2 more weeks, then I go to soft foods.   Each doctor is different.

Hi....yes I had to do 4 weeks of LD after surgery....two weeks before too. Personally I didn't think it was so bad. My surgeon said he does it that way because he wants the pouch totally healed before we have food. He said people have less problems because of it. I have never had any pouch problems at all.  Good luck!! Hugs, connie d
