OT: Alaska Cruise Shore Excursions
I'm doing the Inside Passage with a college roommate and her 90 yr old mom May 24-31. This time one of the stops is Sitka which I haven't seen. We'll be there from 8am-5pm. I know I want to see the town; it's the one that was Russian I believe. There is a Sea Otter and Wildlife water jet boast excursion that sounds fun. It's a 3 hr trip. Has anyone been on one of these or to Sitka with any recommendations? In Juneau we're planning on taking the Mendenhall River Float Trip. In Ketchikan we'll take my roomie's mom to the Lumberjack show. She will have a wheelchair so is limited in the off ship excursions. We will just be in Ketchikan from 7am-1pm. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Karen C

In Ketchikan there is a neat presentation from the native tribe on their culture. I really enjoyed that. A little dancing and singing and you still had some time to see the town (and it's always raining there, so take a raincoat). In Juneau, you have to go to the Red Dog Saloon ... really cool place to visit, have a beer or a non-alcoholic drink and look at all the memorabilia there. Juneau is a really neat city.
