How to post my pic here

I finally got a couple pictures on my profile.........only took me almost 8 months. Now can someone tell me how to get my picture to come up when I do a post here? I tried to upload it but it is too big..........imagine that I am too big............pun on words. Does my question make sense ?

In the left menu you will see User Settings, that is where you upload your avatar, I think it has to be 100x100 and gif or jpeg format....
