Good morning one and all, Well, I'm a slug-a bed!!  We went to bed about 9:30 last night and I didn't get up until 7:15!!  Must have needed it, but now I'm behind schedule.  Oh well, it will be a beautiful day and I don't care if I have to play catch up with my eating and drinking. I've gained back a few pounds that I lost in February....up to 119 now. Hoping to make it to 120 by the 16th when I have my gallbladder out. I'm sure I'll drop a couple then, so I'd like to have a little "buffer".  We're cleaning house today in preparation of my cosmetic surgery on Wednesday.  Upper/lower eyelids, brow lift and chemical peel. I'll be under IV sedation with local anesthetics, so no general anesthetics for this. I'm starting to get excited, only mildly nervous. I've seen quite a lot of this doctor's work and he's very good, and I've never been in a more professional, caring office anywhere. Tomorrow I'm taking an all day hair color class that I've very excited about. Wish the timing was a little better because I feel like there is so much to do before these two surgeries. But everything will be A-OK, I'm sure. Just a warning....I'll be around much more the next three weeks, you all will probably get tired of me by the time I go back to work...LOL Love

Susan

Good Sunday morning to all of my OFF family. I hope that your enjoying your day today so far.  I am going to go get a pantry from freecycle this morning. I need it living here in my cozy apartment. I have to do something about gathering all my crap and getting it out of here. I have so much stuff but it breaks my heart to get rid of anything. I am a pack rat!!!!!!!! I need help here people!!!!! Who is a reformed pack rat out there? Give me some advice if you are. I need all the help I can get. I am soon going to have to move if I don't get some of this out of here. I am getting the panty since I have so little cabinet space. You can hardly fit Bill and I in the kitchen at the same time so you can imagine how small it is. The one we had upstairs was a bit bigger. This one down here is smaller in every room. I didn't know that but at that time I couldn't do the steps either. I still like living down here on the ground. I can look out my patio door and see green (well brown now) grass as opposed to air. lol Nothing else planned for today. I don't know what Bill is going to want to do. I really hope not much. I feel like sitting here today and watch television. Maybe a nap would be something of intrest also.  TV 3      Tired Right about now that sounds like a very good idea. I am so tired today for some reason.  I better get going. We have to be at our nephews in a bit since he is going and helping us get the pantry. I can't wait until I get it here and can clear out some of the cabinets for the stuff that I need them for. I hope that you all have a wonderful day today and I will check in later to find out what is going on here. I miss you all when I am not on here. Love and hugs to all.

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.

Good to see you this morning, Joan! Sounds like you are ready for a good visit with Joyce.  Sure hope she comes and you have a great time visiting. Sounds like everyone is enjoying the spring weather!  That's great.  It's about time, too.  I'm in Southern California so I have spring all year round but I know many of you don't.  Can't wait to hear from the Pittsburgh Pallooza People!  I know they're having a great time!

Best of luck to Susan who is getting special treatments this week!  It'll be great to see you around the boards more!  Looking forward to it.

Brenda - When we downsized to our condo I had to purge 23 years worth of collecting things to 800 square feet of condo.  I had to do it in about 2 weeks as well.  I vowed when I moved in that if I brought anything into the condo something had to leave to make room for it.  Groceries were a natural "swap out" but anything else like clothing -- if I brought in a pair of pants a pair of old pants must go......  It's helped even though I haven't always been true......  Just do your best!

Enjoy your Sunday everyone! Kathi

Good morning Joan and everyone..... I slept in until 8:00 AM and it felt so good. I hardly ever get to do that...my body alarm always goes off by 6:00. I guess I needed the extra sleep. Had a wonderful and fun filled day yesterday. Spent time with some OH MN board friends and my best GF. After coffee my GF and I went shopping for hour**** a few thrift shops, went to an outlet mall, Target and Walmart of course. I found some really cute thing. I bought two pairs of capris at Target for $3.00 each. Founds some great deals!! Size 2 and 3's now...woot woot!!  We got back in town at about 10:00PM last night. We were going to go out for some fun and dancing but we were both too pooped out!!! Today I need to get groceries as tomorrow is my Nic, Gracie and Jamie day/week. I can't hardly wait until they get here!!! Have a beautiful day everyone...hugs.....connie d

Aloha and good morning OFF family!!

Joan...how delightful to have YOU start us off today. I had just read your post to WN Saturday and was going to respond anyway.

You asked what kind of degrees are needed to be a newborn hearing screener. Well, I have three degrees in clinical psychology, but those didn't mean diddly in getting this job. All you really need is a bit of computer experience, a "nurturing" nature (my being a "tutu" helped I'm sure), and availability. I think the degrees did get me in the door....but being a tutu probably sealed the deal.

My morning with the babies yesterday was interesting as always. I never know what to expect. I had SEVEN babies born 4/4/08, and six of them tested easily. The 7th baby I could NOT get to pass one ear, and had to do the sophisticated test and he still did not pass.....so he had to be referred for further testing with hearing specialist. I was standing for about 4 hours, much of it leaning over a cribette and my back was killing me when I left. It is worth it though because the sweetness of these little newborns is life affirming and just so dear. There was a tiny tiny baby one of the nurses was holding and giving a bottle that was no bigger than pint of milk! She said he was just barely 4 lbs.....and eating on his own, breathing on his own.....amazing!!

Sounds like this is a busy week for many of you, and I hope it goes well. Joan, I too, have been having tummy problems....and I'm thinking about seeing my bariatric doc if it continues. It feels like cramps but comes and goes. Probably like yours it's something simple, but it is definitely annoying.

Today I MUST get some boxes filled with things to take to storage, to the thrift stores and to the trash. I'm "decluttering" before my former SIL and nephew come to stay in my home while I'm in Calif. I would love to have an organizing professional come in and "do me" but not even sure there is such a person on Maui. I guess I have to do it myself....sigh.

It is still before sunrise here....and thankfully the wind has died down and the ocean is smooth as glass. I have friends here who are scheduled to go out on the snorkeling, whale watching boat this morning and it will be so much nicer with it calm rather than blowing hard like it was yesterday. They will have a wonderful time, for sure.

I hope our sisters in Pitts. are not in jail........and are painting the town red without someone throwing a net over them......Ha! By the way, Joan, it's kinda close here in Annette's pocket and your elbow keeps jabbing me in my boney ribs!! LOL......

Have a great day everyone!!

Aloha nui loa,

Maui Karen

Aloha Darlene.......I would LOVE to meet you. However, I am going to my son and DIL's in Mt. View (near San Jose) to meet/greet my 3rd grandson who will be born while I'm there (hopefully). I think I'm going to be doing a lot of babysitting, and not sure if I will be able to get away much. I will know more as the time gets closer. I'm leaving Maui on May 8th (redeye) and returning May 23rd.

If not this trip, then definitely another for us to meet.

Aloha nui loa,

Maui Karen
