Good to see you this morning, Joan! Sounds like you are ready for a good visit with Joyce. Sure hope she comes and you have a great time visiting. Sounds like everyone is enjoying the spring weather! That's great. It's about time, too. I'm in Southern California so I have spring all year round but I know many of you don't. Can't wait to hear from the Pittsburgh Pallooza People! I know they're having a great time!
Best of luck to Susan who is getting special treatments this week! It'll be great to see you around the boards more! Looking forward to it.
Brenda - When we downsized to our condo I had to purge 23 years worth of collecting things to 800 square feet of condo. I had to do it in about 2 weeks as well. I vowed when I moved in that if I brought anything into the condo something had to leave to make room for it. Groceries were a natural "swap out" but anything else like clothing -- if I brought in a pair of pants a pair of old pants must go...... It's helped even though I haven't always been true...... Just do your best!
Enjoy your Sunday everyone! Kathi

Joan...how delightful to have YOU start us off today. I had just read your post to WN Saturday and was going to respond anyway.
You asked what kind of degrees are needed to be a newborn hearing screener. Well, I have three degrees in clinical psychology, but those didn't mean diddly in getting this job. All you really need is a bit of computer experience, a "nurturing" nature (my being a "tutu" helped I'm sure), and availability. I think the degrees did get me in the door....but being a tutu probably sealed the deal.
My morning with the babies yesterday was interesting as always. I never know what to expect. I had SEVEN babies born 4/4/08, and six of them tested easily. The 7th baby I could NOT get to pass one ear, and had to do the sophisticated test and he still did not pass.....so he had to be referred for further testing with hearing specialist. I was standing for about 4 hours, much of it leaning over a cribette and my back was killing me when I left. It is worth it though because the sweetness of these little newborns is life affirming and just so dear. There was a tiny tiny baby one of the nurses was holding and giving a bottle that was no bigger than pint of milk! She said he was just barely 4 lbs.....and eating on his own, breathing on his own.....amazing!!
Sounds like this is a busy week for many of you, and I hope it goes well. Joan, I too, have been having tummy problems....and I'm thinking about seeing my bariatric doc if it continues. It feels like cramps but comes and goes. Probably like yours it's something simple, but it is definitely annoying.
Today I MUST get some boxes filled with things to take to storage, to the thrift stores and to the trash. I'm "decluttering" before my former SIL and nephew come to stay in my home while I'm in Calif. I would love to have an organizing professional come in and "do me" but not even sure there is such a person on Maui. I guess I have to do it myself....sigh.
It is still before sunrise here....and thankfully the wind has died down and the ocean is smooth as glass. I have friends here who are scheduled to go out on the snorkeling, whale watching boat this morning and it will be so much nicer with it calm rather than blowing hard like it was yesterday. They will have a wonderful time, for sure.
I hope our sisters in Pitts. are not in jail........and are painting the town red without someone throwing a net over them......Ha! By the way, Joan, it's kinda close here in Annette's pocket and your elbow keeps jabbing me in my boney ribs!! LOL......
Have a great day everyone!!
Aloha nui loa,

If not this trip, then definitely another for us to meet.
