Do any of you have information or experience with taking K-Tab Potassium after RNY surgery? I take 4800 mg/day (6 tablets). These shouldn't be crushed, according to package labeling. Thanks, Marilyn W.

Hi Marilyn, the only thing I know is that time release does not work for me, I have to take pottassium everyday, and my surgeon gave me a non-time release formula. Have you talked to your doc?

I was under the impression that we can't have anything "time-released" but that is probably a question for your doctor or nutritionist. Good luck Lou

I do know that anything time released cannot be crushed because you get the whole dose of the medicine all at one time instead of getting it over time. I always check with the pharmacy first if it can be crushed. If they can't be then someone has to contact the doctor. I also explain to the pharmacy that I had the surgery. I had to get a anti biotic the other day and they had run out of the 500mg. pills and they asked if the 250 mg. ones would be alright. I looked at them and told them that they would be better because of the surgery. I still half them and then swallow the 4 peices one at a time. No problem so far with doing that.
