Aspirin and WLS

Why not aspirin for WLS, namely RNY? Tylenol is recommended but doesn't work well ie. headache pain. Does anyone know? Have been diligent in following no carbonation and no aspirin rules. Now, I'm tired of headaches.

Hi...I was told not to take it because it can irritate your pouch....you could end up with an ulcer.  Maybe Darlene will be able to help you more with this question. Hugs, connie d

I can't take asprin because I am allergic to it. You are not suppose to take it because it can cause ulcers. I take the liquid Tylenol rapid release in cherry flavor. It seems to work faster than regular tylenol. Why not give it a try? It might work. Love and hugs to you.

I haven't been able to take apirin or any other NSAID for over 2 years now because of what they were doing to my stomach. I get head aches if I don't drink enough water or if I am in the sun too much. I take Imitrex for them now. It really has helped me. Ask your Dr about the headaches. You really don't want to keep living with them. Are they Migraine or tension? That will make a difference for treatment. Diana

Diana: The headaches are migraine. I'm on Maxalt, chewables, but they don't do much good. Also have seen eye doctor. Had CT and MRI - no hidden causes, except for a cyst in brain, not a cause of headaches. Trying to acertain triggers. New glasses, pain in eye, starting glaucoma using drops at night. Good grief! Getting hard to cope. Getting older is no picnic. Will drink more water and follow the WLS rules. Thanks for the feedback.
Hugs,
Rudie

Can't you take a pill? I have been taking my imitrex in pill form since 2 weeks after surgery and have no problems. I can take most any pill, even tha large calcoium and vicodin. I know they are breaking down and absorbing because I can feel when the vicodin kicks in. The initrex also kicks in within about 30 minutes. Just trying to give all the suggestions I can. I have chronic pain and I just can't deal with the head aches. They have cut to less than half the frequency when I started drinking all my water. I have to be very careful in the sun. That will trigger them for me also. good luck and keep looking for the answer, it's out there somewhere. Have some nice quiet hugs and get feeling better, Diana
