Anyone else been here????
Good morning all!
I am 9 weeks out and just losing soooo slowly! Everyone I have spoken with just had the weight falling off of them and for me it is like I have to pound off each ounce. Even my doctor (not my surgeon, but my regular hcp) said at one month I should have lost 40 pounds by now, and I had only lost 26. Now I have only lost 35. I keep wondering if it is because of my age, metabolism or what??? Am I freaking out for nothing?
From the very first month I only lost 8# amonth. I had previously lost 110 and kept it off for three yrs. I lost 8# a month for the yr I was losing. But at one yr out I had lost 96# I have lost a total of 112# since the surgury and kept it off for 14 months> I figure I need to be real diligent to keep it off for oh maybe the next 35 yrs. by the time I reach 90 Im not gonna worry any more!!
Joyce,
You are freaking out for nothing!! AND your doctor shouldn't have said that to you!!! Your rate of loss is very similar to mine - slow. I don't know any person who had a fast rate with the exception of the men in my support groups.
Remember we are not supposed to compare with others. That has been difficult for me too. 17 months ago today I weighed 320 pounds, today 116 pounds, at my own slow pace.
Be patient, stick to your plan, drink water and exercise - WLS works!!
You are way ahead of me. At one month out I had not even lost 20 lbs. I have kept up losing at a fairly steady rate of about 2 lbs per week. Slow and steady is just how some of us work. I have now lost 92 lbs and am almost 8 months out. I have 2 lbs to my drs goal and 12 to mine. There really are no you should have lost by now rules. No more freaking out. You are doing great in my book.

Hi,
Dont worry - it's all relative....
I thought I was a slow loser and my surgeon said that there was no right amount as long as your weight is going down, not up. Good advice, right.
Here I am two years out, I have lost 120lbs which is all I ever wanted to lose, and I am wearing size 4 jeans, and small tops. I work out 3-4 times per week and life is pretty good.
Hang in there and keep doing what you surgeon and nutritionist tell you and you'll look back on this and laugh
Lou
Thank you all so much....very helpful! I log my foods, but not every day. I keep worrying that I am eating too much, and when I am most worried I write down the protein and calories for the day, and I am on less than 1000 a day. Taking my measurements is a great idea, people keep telling me that I look good and they notice the weight loss. I so appreciate all of your help!!!
