2. HAVE YOU EVER MET SOMEONE YOU LOOK UP TO? IF SO WHO? Yes, luckily as a child I had two great aunts who were wonderful, caring people, people I wanted to be like when I grew up, I think I actually am a combination of both of them, with a little sprinkle of my Mom mixed in.

4. DO YOU LIVE IN A HOUSE , CONDO, TOWN HOUSE , APT.? I live in a bungalow style home, small and cozy with a huge backyard for Dillinger to romp in and he was the reason I bought a house over a town home, because of restrictions on size and breeds, so I like to say that Dillinger has the biggest, most expensive dog house in the Southwestern NJ area!
My Mantra is that I do not determine my success by the number hanging in my closet, nor will I let the scale determine that success either. . . It is through trial and error I will continue to grow and succeed. . . Laureen

1. WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
I am inspired by people who take risks and succeed in spite of there being the possibility of failure, problems or pain. I guess that means I'm inspired by everyone who gets WLS and fights their way to success, in whatever form that takes for them.
2. HAVE YOU EVER MET SOMEONE YOU LOOK UP TO? IF SO WHO?
My neighbor and friend is my "mentor" since moving to Maui. She is 83 years old, still teaches hula, has a bright/quick mind that includes humor and very modern thinking, and lives life to the fullest in spite of having pain from arthritis, etc. We often have spirited discussions about heavy subjects and I always listen carefully to her "take" on things because she usually has something thought provoking to say.
3. WHAT TYPE OF WORK DO YOU DO?
Well, my first job was a legal secretary right out of high school. Then I went to college LATE (for 7 years and 3 years interning) and became a clinical psychologist which is what I did for many years in Santa Cruz, Ca. I retired from psychology when I moved to Maui, but can't seem to sit still, so got my real estate license (never used it), then began to accumulate part-time jobs that were interesting instead. Now I test the hearing on newborns at the hospital, manage a condo, and soon will be teaching a class in "Overcoming emotional eating."
4. DO YOU LIVE IN A HOUSE , CONDO, TOWN HOUSE , APT.?
Most of your know I live in a condo on the ocean......I talk about it so much you can probably almost picture it totally. I moved to Maui from Portland, Oregon and a 4 bedroom, 3 bath house into a one bedroom, one bath condo!! Major downsizing which has been a wonderful experience. My home may be small, but my backyard is the Pacific Ocean and that makes it feel like I live outdoors.
This is fun and so wonderful to hear about each of your lives.
Aloha nui loa,
Maui Karen
