What's New Wed.

Well, it's officially Wednesday here in New Orleans!  So since I don't feel like I could sleep just yet, I'll start the What's New. Ethan visited last night and was a handful  - a typical 4 1/2 y/o ball of energy.  I didn't sleep well Sunday night, so I kept dozing in my recliner and let grandpa and daddy take care of Ethan.  Hopefully when he visits this weekend I'll be more rested and better able to keep up with him.  Weather permitting, we're thinking about taking him to the City Park where they're having a fishing rodeo. I know I'm being silly, worrying about my upcoming surgery.  I'm told it's no big deal, buy it's my thumb, so it's a big deal to me.  Besides, I'm tired of being cut on.  At least this is same-day surgery and I should be home by noon.   Pain pill starting to kick in, time to drag my hiney to bed - 5:15 will be here soon! black cats Thank you for starting this morning Debbie, A fishing rodeo? What's that? Probably NOT roping and riding the fish. I know you are going to fret and worry until you thumb is fixed. Might you consider asking the doctor for something to help you sleep the night before surgery???? Annie got into a dangerous predicament which could have had disasterous results. I had a shopping bag in my room - one of those with the cord handle. From the kitchen I could hear a scream, unlike anthing I've ever heard. Annie had tried to crawl into the bag through the handle and got stuck. The cord was wrapped tightly around her neck and tightened with each movement. It was a fight to hold her down as I attempted to cut the cord. It was so tightly wrapped that I had a difficult time removing it from her neck. Annie has been needy and clingy ever since. Poor furbrat was frightened. If I had not been home, this might have had a baaaad outcome. This taught me a lesson to never leave one of those bags unattended. My Nut is leaving in the 18th and the surgeon and hospital still hasn't hired her replacement. She has been an inspiration and the WLS life-line for all of the surgeon's patients. The people in the 2 support groups are feeling nervous. Me too. It's gymnastics day! In a few weeks Melanie enters the class without parents or grandmas.  This has been our special day for the past year and a half. I won't know what to do without her on Wednesday mornings. We will have to plan for a different day together; one for Matthew and me too. My shopping outting didn't cost a penny. Trying on clothes drives me nuts and I didn't see anything of interest. Sweaters and warm clothes are fine right now but eventually the weather will get warm. I'm completely out of Summer clothes, and I'm not sure if my Birks will fit because my feet are smaller. This is reaching the critical stage. Time to get serious and find clothes. Kisses Annette

Annette, so sorry to hear  Ms. Annie had a close call.  How frightening for both of you.  Pets, like children have to be watched every minute.  When I'd refer to our beloved Coco as our child who wouldn't grow up, George would say, yes, but at least she won't ask to use the car or argue over an allowance! I know you'll miss your special time with Melanie, proof that they unlike pets grow up to become independent little people.   Pre-wls I hated to go clothes shopping, that really hasn't changed much.  I did notice when I got dressed up real dressy with heels and pantyhose for church Sunday that maybe my feet have shrunk a little.  My dress shoes are loose, it wasn't noticable with my tennis shoes. Edited to elaborate on a fishing rodeo: Nope, no roping and riding!  That would be tricky!  Fishing rodeos have prizes for the largest fish caught...things such as that.  We fished a fundraiser rodeo with a friend who has a larger boat than our.  All three of us won a prize.  I had the stringer of speckled trout with the highest weight (5 fish per stringer), George won for the largest flounder, and our friend, Johnny won for the largest single trout.  There was a category for the redfish with the most spots.

Good Mornin' Debbie and everyone,

Sorry to hear you're having trouble sleeping.  Me too.  I have no trouble staying up late and night right now.  Living on 4 hours sleep isn't going to do for very long for me.  My mother used to tell me I would sleep when I got old.  I guess I'm not old yet because I'm not sleeping.

Can't wait to hear more about a fishing rodeo!  Not sure about that one at all but it sounds like fun for your little one.  Ethan is at that perfect age where everything is a wonder.  I know your surgery on your thumb is going to go very smoothly.  Hang in there and it'll be over before you know it.

Annette -- scary story about your kitty!  Glad you were there to fix the problem.  Phew.....

Nothing on the agenda for me today except work.  Very busy as always but it makes the day just fly by.  I'm going to call the surgeon's office and check for a cancellation.  I check but they never have one.

Take care and have a great Wednesday!

Kathi

Kathi, I'm one who never needed a great amount of sleep - could always get by with only a few hours.  As I get older, the problem is I get grouchier when I'm tired.    Hope that doctor has a cancellation!

Good morning all... I am supposed to get a couple of phone calls today... one telling me if my class in Tallahassee is scheduled or canceled, so either I go to work on Friday for 10 days in Florida or I am off some more! The other call is from a company who is going to schedule an interview for prospective District Managers. Depending on the pay they offer, this could be a good job as it would not involve travel. That's about it in my world
