What we are eating, and what's eating us!!!! Tuesday!
I take the Walmart brand, but I can't think of it right now. It is at home. On the bottle it says Hair, Skin and Nails. It is a little speckled caplet. If I don't eat my protein, I am very hungry now. I guess my body has gotten use to it and "needs" it. I will often eat meat for a snack if I am hungry, but the soy ice cream is great, also, just not a filling.
Hey Linda...I am finally back to civilization...woot woot!!!
I not only couldn't get internet access, my cell phone couldn't get service either......I felt like I had gone back in time about ten years!!!
I have lots of catching up to do.....but am glad to be back.
I had a nice Easter and a restful time while I was away.
As for my NUT...I am to have a minimum of 60 grams of protein a day. There is no limit on fats and calories but I am very cautious. She tells us what to eat and what not to eat and I follow that closely. Most of my meal is protein from meat, fish etc.. I don't use liquid protein. My surgeon wants us eating our protein not drinking it. I am doing well so I guess I am doing things right. I always have at least 64 oz. of water a day and never miss my Vitamins and Calcium.
The only thing I don't like is that we aren't allowed to drink milk or to have soup ever. He said there isn't enough protein in it and it just goes through too fast. We can have chili as long as it is very, very thick and plenty of meat in it....I also add cheese. I miss my soup and milk!!!
B-yogurt w/ Kashi and string cheese
S-fruit
L-refried beans w/ cheese
S-fruit
D-Salisbury steak and green beans
S-SF pudding
Glad you got the Easter card sweetie! Have a wonderful day my wonderful friend!!
Love and hugs....Boo to you!!!
Hiya Boo...do you like bean soup?? I make it and it is thick and yummy..How about stews??
I do not drink milk often, but I do enjoy my strawberry shakes in the summer. I do understand the logic though, of getting full and having the real food take longer to digest.
You have done so well dear Connie..you are a shining example.
It seems like yesterday when you were fighting to get your WLS...you embraced it from day one.
I missed you, I think of you and your family many times a day. I have your lovely cards hanging at my desk, they remind me that I am loved, that God gives unconditional love, and people who you may never even hug to send His comfort. You are one of His angels.
God bless you.
Thanks Linda dear....I consider you a blessing from the Lord also!!
I treasure your friendship everyday...you are never far from my thoughts and always in my prayers.
Yes, I have made very thick bean soup.....you could eat it with a fork....yummy! Stew I am not so crazy about but thanks for the ideas anyway.
You are such an inspiration to me.......you have come so far with your weight loss...you never cease to amaze me. I am very proud of your accomplishments. You have more determination then anyone I have ever known...thank you!
Chat with you tomorrow.....I am exhausted and need to go to bed soon. I hope I am not getting sick again. My throat is scratchy and I feel achy. Pam's mom was so sick while we were there.....bad, bad cough and cold. I wish she would have told me before I went there...I wouldn't have gone. She had a fever and chills too. UGH!!!! I can't be with Nic if I am sick or any of my sweet grandchildren for that matter!!
Love and hugs always to you my friend....Boo to you!!
Linda,
My nutritionist's plan, which is very specific as to what foods are allowed and in what quantities, calls for 902 cal/day, 80 g protein, 78 g good carbs, 30 g fat. I just couldn't do the 900 cal and added protein snacks for a total of 1000 cal/day, 90 g protein. It's working for me, along with a chewable multivitamin, chewable calcium, and sublingual B-complex (with B12) every day. The only thing I wonder about sometimes is fruit. I eat virtually no fruit (I was never a fruit person) and being diabetic, I find it spikes my blood sugar quite a bit. Most of my carbs come from high-protein/high fiber oatmeal, veggies and dairy. I wonder if I'm missing out on something important by not eating fruit?
B: 1 packet weight control oatmeal made w/ 2/3 c. skim milk
S: chocolate protein shake made w/ 1 c. skim milk + 2 tbl SF cherry syrup
L: 2 oz. beef stroganoff (had to puree it to get it down), 1/4 c. sweet potatoes, 1/4 c. spinach
S: 1/4 c.ricotta cheesecake fluff
D: 2 oz. chicken, 1/2 c. broccoli
S: 1 SF pudding

Hiya Jean, I do not know if you are missing anything from eating fruit. I do not eat it everyday, but I try to slip some in a few times a week, I tend to stay to the lower carb ones, but once and awhile I splurge with a half of a banana as I have low pottasium.
My NUT told me not to drink fruit juice but to eat the fruit instead as it was more filling and not so much sugars as fruit juice.
I would talk to my NUT again if I were you, but I think she/he would have told you if it were needed...we only have so much room in our little tummys.
Hugs, dear lady.
Hi Linda,
Thanks for this look at all the different nutritional advice. I've decided to up my calorie and protein intake. I've been stalled for three months eating 1,000 calories a day and about 65 to 70 grams of protein a day. Maybe my body is in starvation mode because the scale isn't budging.
I went today and got a fill - I'm up to 2.1 cc s of saline in my band which is 20% of capacity. At least that will help me not feel hungry.
B - Pure Protein Bar, Applesauce
S - Oat n' Honey Nature Valley Bar
L - Wendy's Chili with cheese
D - Chicken and veggie
Dessert - Pineapple Cheesecake square (sorry but it has sugar so it won't fly for you RNYs, although you may be able to substitute splenda/equal. There is margarine in it too, can you substitute something for that too (applesauce won't work)?) but it's only 248 calories a square with 4.3 grams of protein. It makes 24 squares. I can give you the recipe and you can try it. It's not an "easy" recipe but so worth it. It's light and Spring tasting. With the substitutions it will bring the calorie/carb/fats count down.
Hey cutie, I find I have to have my protein to lose, it is just my body I guess. I feel good that my NUT consulted with my surgeon and came up with what works for me.
I know the plateau diets stress protein big time..I think I have a copy (there is of course more than one) and Darlene might have one on her profile, she has a wealth of information there.
Not interested in the cheesecake, last year I was and came up with a tasty one using the sugar free pudding.
Now Bev, you what you want girl, I believe in staying out of peoples plates...but personally, I do believe in the extra protein theory.
I enjoy your posts and I love the variety of foods people what people eat here, we don't need anyone mentally smacking our hands like they are our momma's and telling us what to eat. That would make me nutso....grin.
Hope you have a great night.
Hugs!
