Good morning, Linda, I'm very interested in your post about protein, cals. etc.
Do you really get in 120 grams of protein a day?? My NUT said 74 grams and I have trouble some days getting that. It was also 64oz. of water, and no more than 65 grams of carbs. Nothing was said about the amount of calories, at least not yet. Most days I think I'm getting between 600 and 900 a day. It's working ok, I've lost 97lbs. in almost 6 months and 112lbs. in all whi*****ludes the 15 lbs. I lost in the 2 weeks pre-op.
B:Protein shake.
L:Scrambled egg with cheese. 1 prune.
D: Ham, green beans, and a prune.
S: Probably another shake.
Have a lovely day, Linda!

Had the best nite's sleep last night in a long time....took a tynelol PM when I went to bed and sleep straight thru until 4:30, rolled over and back to sleep until 6:45. Feeling really rested today.
I have to brag on MMPC in Grand Rapids where I go to the dr. Their program is so goooood.....you see the dietician every time you go and get printed instructions....several times it was a group meeting but usually lasted 1/2 to 1 hour with everyone asking questions.
Their requirements for six months and beyond are:
>60 gm. protein daily
less than 30 gm. fat daily
64 oz. of liquids (half from water)
1200 cal/day
20 min. to eat your meal & chew food 20-25 times
no drinking 15 min. before and 45 min. after meals
limited carbs, but some allowed
Exercise 30 min. a day EVERY DAY
avoid liquid calories - will slow weight loss and result in
weight gain
Their patients are very successful.....

Done! Your Ticker:
Hi Bonnie, yes, I hit close to my protein count everyday. Protein is everywhere, and almost everything I put in my mouth has it, I even drink milk if I see I am short at the end of the day. As of today, I have lost over 260 pounds, so it works for me, and it could be that I am a lot bigger and taller than you. I am 5ft 10....smile.
It seems that there are many roads that lead to Rome...meat has a lot of protein, and I eat meat everyday.
Hugs!
Happy Tuesday, the sequel, Linda!
Sure made it easier to get through yesterday knowing that Tuesday was here already !
I'm going to play around with Marc's numbers about calories and calorie reduction to see if I can get a handle on losing some weight pre-surgery.
Don't have a food plan yet but wanted to say hello to you.
So....... Hello! Have a great day.
Hugs,
Kathi
Good morning!!! Mine told me that I should be getting 85 proteins, 30 fats 100 good carbs and to lose, I should have no more than 1300 cals, but to maintain I should have 1500. I am suppose to drink at least 80 oz of water and take B-12, prenatal vits, B complex, and calcium. I also take a pill for hair, nail and skin. I am having to go back to basics because my scale says I have put on about 5 pounds and I still need to lose about 30 to be at goal. Oh...she said I needed to exercise at least 30 mins three times a week. B-Detour protein bar L - chicken or fish and a veggie or salad S - a piece of fruit or yogurt D- a lean cuisine dinner S - soy ice cream bar. Have a wonderful day today.
Thanks Carmen, I am happy to see someone is eating near the protein I am, it sure keeps the hunger away too. I take my vits and calcium everyday too...now what are you using for your hair and nails??
I think it rocks that we have this tool, and we can reel ourselves in anytime we start heading the wrong way.
Have a wonderful, protein filled day...smile.
