I need a "wow" fix!
So, I've had this hip pain and so I went to my rheumatologist and the first thing he did was comment on how skinny I am. He then had me get up on the examining table and in the past this was a feat accomplished only when two or more people gave me hands, but I stepped up and slid on that table like I was a kid. It felt so good, in spite of the pain. Then he ordered an xray and my fear of getting on and off of xray table is huge but I went and got up without help and off without help and it only took one picture, unlike previous to losing all this weight when they couldn't exactly find the spot where my bones were. Oh, and the other night when I had to go to theER for my pneumonia, they put me in a wheel chair to haul me for a lung scan and guess what? I fit in the small chair. I guess my best wow was having my doctor go on and on over how much I've lost and his nurse not recognizing me.
Aloha much-missed sister!!
I LOVE your wows, too!! And I know so many of us can relate to exactly what you are saying. Things like exam tables, wheelchairs, theater seats, airplane seats were always a grim challenge and one that was potentially humiliating to the max. I LOVED the images of you facing those old haunting situations and breezing through PLUS getting big time validation of your new body!
THANKS FOR SHARING.....I MISS YOU!

Hello Maui Karen.....congrats on your WOW moments!!!
My last WOW was last Friday evening. I went out with a friend from the MN Board. I met her daughter last summer while preparing for my friends husband's 60th birthday bash. I saw her daughter quite frequently at that time. Well....her daughter was there Friday night. She was standing next to me and asked her mom who her friend was. She didn't even recognize me. She said she knew the voice but didn't know who I was. After they said my name she almost fell over! She just kept giggling and smiling at me all evening. She was in shock. She said she just couldn't get over how tiny I was....me and tiny in the same sentence...unbelievable!!
I need to change my avatar...that pic was at least 30 pounds ago.
Hope you had a wonderful Easter holiday Karen!!
Hugs and love....connie d
Aloha dear OFF sister......How I LOVE the kind of WOW you received!! Those are the very best, and I've had a few of those myself so I know how fun they are.
I can sometimes tell from the puzzled look on someone's face when I'm out shopping and they know they know me, but just can't place from where. It's fun to play with them for a bit before telling them my name. Then the look of "omigod......" is priceless. (And I refuse to entertain the idea they the omigod is because they think I'm dying!!)
Thanks for sharing and reminding me of how great it is not NOT be recognized!
