Well, Debbie it  seems to me that anyone that makes their living typing all day would have a challenge to have an operated on thumb back to work in two weeks......but of course the dumb doc that doesn't type probably wouldn't understand..you  hang in there sweetie, I            just wish I could hug you in person. Love, Marti

Debbie, Put in some ear plugs and let his old gasket blow to the moon. He sure sounds like a crotchity old meanie. You have enough time accrued, take off more than two weeks just for the heck of it. Good luck with him. A few years ago I had to have a lump removed from my thumb. The only difficult part was having to remove my wedding rings for the first time, there was no other pain at all. (I'm a BIG baby) It will be a relief to have it gone.  Hugs Annette

Mornin' everybody! Had a busy weekend,,so slept in this morning. Im excited though. Shelly , my youngest daughter, and her three boys are coming for a week, will be here tonight! I cant wait. Matthew, 17, Mitchell 13, and Marcus 4, will make it a fun week Im sure! Lotts fun with the boys, and late night talks with Shelly will make the weeks go by way too fast Im sure! Beautiful day ehre today, although the high is supposed to be only 45, at least its sunny. I saw some green sprouts in the flower bed,so surely thats a sign spring is really here. Im anxious to plant and weed and work on thelandscaping. We had to go for depostions in a 2 year old lawsuit this past week. That was nervewracking. We were hit head on on a hill by a big truck and the guy that hit us is saying it was our fault, so its going to trial. We were stopped and waiting to turn into a drive, and he popped over the hill on the wrong side of the road and hit us head on. We have about 30 witnesses, as it was a graduation picnic we were attending, but he still maintains we were in the wrong. Pray all goes well for us, The trial is supposed to be in July if the insurance company doesnt settle first. It has come out that he wasnt even driving the truck, it was a 16 year old boy! He lied and said it was him, but we have witnesses to who was driving as well. We were all injured, my grandson being the worst, so we deserve some compensation, at least our bills paid. I have permanent nerve damage in my right leg, Tyler had three surgeries to repair his arm,,it was a mess. Well, guess Ill go start some laundry and straighten up and wait for the phone to ring telling me Shelly is on her way! ya'll have a great day! Be Blessed Betsy

Betsy I wish you well in that law suit....it is hard to deal with big insurance companies...My nephew had run out of gas and was stopped in an inside lane of a four lane highway and a big dump truck swung around another truck and hit him going about 50 miles an hour and he was killed....it went to court with a long trial and the jury found the dump truck driver negligent....there were 4 out 7 brakes not working, and the driver had been cited many times before.......and the JUDGE set aside the verdict.....so they got nothing....not that they wanted money, my brother is a  wealthy man and they had top notch attorneys.....so you just can't tell what is going to happen. They had a lot of witnesses also, they won, but then they didn't....it was pretty clear that someone "got to" the judge...but they could not do anything about it.....it had taken two years to get to that point...and they just needed it to be over.

Good luck sweetie, Marti

Good Morning. I can't believe it is Monday and back at work already. I had a 3 day weekend and all I did was cook and cook and cook.. well until last night and it was clean clean clean.Had 13 people over to Chucks for dinner last yesterday and an egg hunt for the 4 kids. The mother of 2 of the kids is a stickler about her kids eatting candy so she made them leave most of the eggs behind.. what a scrooge. I am trying to  stay as far away from sweets as possible,so of course Chuck gives me a big box of dark Cho covered cherries, liquid centers. yum.. I didn't even open the box and just brought them straight into work today. Good girl. Tomorrow I go with Liz for a fitting of her wedding dress, I am so excited! I will probably tell you 10 times before it is over.   Day 1 of the 5 day pouch test.                                                             Blessings

Good Morning.....We had a quiet Easter....Mass in the morning....Gavin and I made a "Spring Cake" in the afternoon.....I just cut an angel food cake in three layers and Gavin stirred vanilla pudding, crushed pineapple and cool whip together and we put it between the layers.....and we put big Strawberries on top with a a few blueberries [cute cake from the new Kraft Food & Family Magazine which I just love...if you want to subscribe free...just go to http://www.kraftfoods.com/kf/ ]  He loved doing it and his Mama ooohed and ahhed over it...Gavin is 4 years old]

Well we reached our 100 inches of snow this winter yesterday, and I think we have more to come tonight.....it has been a long and laughable winter.....you just have to laugh about it becuase what can you do about it?...I mean 100 inches? We broke the record many inches ago, but it keeps coming....the local TV Channel is coming out with T-Shirts that say "I survived the Winter of 2008".

Yet, my son and his family have gone to Colorado to ski....Aimee's family was all meeting there in a big 6000 SF house...they are all skiiers and good ones.....not like our family. He said the mountains are gorgeous and they were having a wonderful time. He is a gourmet cook and so he loves to cook for them all...and he is loving it...he just needs someone to clean up after him [which they are so willing to do].....he is a little bit of a messy cook, just like me.....but the food is incredible. we trade off holidays with the other in-laws and last year we were all in Dallas for Easter.

I have had a nasty cold that just causes my nose to drip and if I take cold medicine I get very sleepy....so I have not worked out for a week now and I am really really feeling it, especially in my right knee. I am going to try to do it today....

Well, my husband just stopped in my office to bring me a cappachino after he worked out....so I really need to get serious now.

Have a great day. Hugs, Marti

Thanks for the kind words, Marti! This whole thing is so stupid! In the police report there were 13 errors! The officer had me in a child restraint in the back seat! He said we were all sitting in different places than we were, that the car was moving at the time, it was not, that we all complained of back pain, we did not, I was unconcious in the backseat and couldnt complain of anything for petes sake! It was a little hick town, and took the police over half an hour to get to us,,then when they did, they were "good ole boys" and friends with the other driver,,er,,supposed driver. Then when our pastor came over to pray for us all, (he was at the picnic we were headed to), the driver made fun of the praying and crying. Now THAT made me mad when I heard it!  Oh well,,,what will be will be,,,,, Hope you are having a great day! Blessings Betsy

Aloha OFF family......Joyce, thanks for the start....so good to see you.

It's 6:45 a.m. on Maui and the sun is just now popping up over the ocean........it has moved with the seasons so now it doesn't shine directly through my big sliding glass windows thankfully. It was totally blinding when it did.

I think the whales are beginning their migration back to Alaska because we are seeing fewer and fewer of them every day. It always amazes me when I think of that LONG swim they make every year...especially the newborns! The Pacific Whale Foundation tags some of them, and we are always excited when a baby born the year before shows up here the next winter. I will miss them.

Yesterday was peaceful and quiet.....my kind of day. I chatted with my DIL on Instant Messenger, and she and my son are having trouble finding a name for the new baby due in May. So, all day I kept writing down cute names I would hear on TV, or read in a book. I even googled "Hawaiian baby names" and found some really cute ones that have wonderful meanings. I LOVE that most Hawaiian names mean something.....for instance Lopaka means "shining star."
My DIL said they are considering "Zane" and I sort of kept my mouth shut because that isn't a name I would pick...but this isn't MY BABY! At least this time they asked for my input and I will come up with a list and see what happens.

I sure missed seeing my grandsons enjoy their Easter. I miss the fun part of Easter with the children. I just have to keep reminding myself that I will be there soon......and will have a brand new baby to love and cuddle.

This morning I'm doing my hour and a half on the lanai in the sun and then heading in to town to do errands. I LOVE days with no plans that can unfold as it will. So much of my life was work and busy busy all day, all week! So I am grateful for the time that is undesignated. I hope you all have some hours today of peace, quiet and contentment.

Aloha nui loa,

Maui Karen

Ohhh I 'm sorry Karen, I love Zane. I don't know why but I love what I consider western names.. Dakota, Dallas, Denver ( hmm, maybe I like "d"s) But I named my kids Phillip and Elizabeth.. You would think I had a love for royalty, but Phillip was named after  a character on "All my Children" well not after him, but his dad and Icouldn't agree on a name so I mentioned Phillip, after  listening to the soap, and it passed.. Elizabeth was biblical.. My first born was Jody, his dad named him after an Army cadence, Funny the way we pick names.

Aloha Jean.....You know what, after reading what you just wrote, I'm beginning to think Zane isn't too bad. I also LOVE Jody.....that's a great name. Some of the ones I've been writing down are Cody, Carter, Jordan, Alexander, Duke, Rubin, Theo, Tyson and Gavin. Isn't it interesting how names make an impact on us.....and I'm not sure where that comes from. When my son and DIL named their first son Brock, all I could think of was that he would be called "Brock the Jock" in school!
And Zane makes me think they will certainly add a "y" and he'll be Zaney!! HUmm.........

Thanks for your input....much appreciated

Aloha nui loa,

Maui Karen
