Use this time to remember the memories with your mom. My mother died six years ago and I still "talk" to her every day. Marc is right -- you mom is with you wherever you are now I believe.
I know the gathering in Pittsburgh will give you something to look forward to and concentrate your efforts.

Mary, you are still in my prayers and I know just what you are saying about your mom. Mine passed 5 years ago this month and I still miss her so much. My dad passed 38 years ago and I miss him every single day too. But knowing that they are together again is what makes things easier. Your loved ones is never really gone if they continue to live on in your heart and mind.
It is amazing to me that we share such a bond with others that we really don't know. There was that instant friendship and just because we were overweight and shared the bond of a surgery to help it. We totally understand each other and share such a bond that it must have been made by God. He is the one that brought us together to share and to love each other. Ya know what? Maybe there is something to the table with our parents there having coffee talking about us. We at Compassionate Friends think that even though our children never knew each other they are all playing together in heaven waiting for us to get there. Common bonds may extend passed this world of our. Who knows?
