Topic: RE: Lap Band Support Groups
I'm looking for a lap band surgeon that will do fills for me. I had the surgery several years ago, but since have moved to Portland. I'd be more than happy to go up to Vancouver if they're good up there and will take me and my insurance. There's something wrong with the band (it doesn't hurt, I think it's just slowly leaked) and I'm gaining like mad!!! I'm 30lbs up and starting to really freak out about it. Any help with findind a good surgon for fills would be WONDERFUL! Thanks!

Topic: OHSU February Support Groups
Vicki mentioned that they are having a bit of a problem with their group email list so you might not be getting an email reminder for February if you are part of the OHSU email group.

Hello everyone!
We are welcoming in 2011 with an entire set of new topics for discussion with the Bariatric Support Groups. We have some changes in 2011 including the role of facilitator.  My major practice is in the hospital now so I will be handing over the baton to some new people.  The 3 dietitians will be facilitating this month. Our topic is Five Keys to Effective Weight Loss.  One suggestion is to have each person bring their own list of their "five keys"  to start out.  Here are the details of the meetings:   1.  February 9th, wed, 10-1130, CHH 3178/CHH 5,  Center for Health and Healing on Five Keys to Effective Weight Loss. 2.  Feburary 15th, Tues, 6:30-8 pm, CHH 3181/1B with Michelle Tegenkamp RD on the above topic (five Keys..) 3.  February 23rd, 10-1130, CHH 3180, CHH6, Gloria Scalzo RD, will be leading the general open discussion, for postoperative needs or long term questions.   Hope you can join the team!  Call if any concerns/needs: 503-494-4373.  Vicki Jakovec ACNP

Topic: RE: Experienced Plastic Surgeons in state and out
It seems a lot of post ops go to Mexico for plastic surgery. Not only is the cost low but they are very experienced with WLS patients.
I think it is in Monterey and the doctor's name is Saucedo.

Topic: Experienced Plastic Surgeons in state and out

I had RNY in Coos Bay in August...doing great but am planning on quite a bit of plastic surgery this next fall.  I couldn't find anyone in Oregon that had much experience with bariatric patients and body lift procedures so have looked out of state.  On OH/Plastic Surgery forum, I found Egrari in Bellevue, Stridde in Federal Way, WA., David Kaufman in Folsom, CA, Dr. Agha in Newport Beach and another 3 or so in Phoenix, AZ.  Has anyone had any experience with any of these?  Are the costs reasonable or too expensive to consider?  Any information (good or bad) would be appreciated. Experience with anyone else?

Thanks.

Chilly here is about 15-20 degrees.  Yep that's ABOVE zero.  Most often winter lows are right about freezing, but we do get some cold spells.  Cottage Grove is a bit higher elevation than Eugene, so you're more likely to see a dusting of snow there than here, but it usually just a dusting.
