Hi,

I am keeping my fingers crossed.  I wish you all the luck you will need.  I HATE Insurance companies!  They act like they are GOD.

Hugs,

Topic: Why do I post
Hi Everyone,

Why do I always post a lot on this site? I have such a passion about the success that I had after having weight loss surgery with Dr.
Aceves and his staff. My entire life changed. I had the most wonderful support from so many people on this board when I was first starting out and was “just thinking" about what kind of weight loss surgery I wanted. Then once I was sure I was going to do it and that I wanted a sleeve, came my thousands of questions. Now these people were so patient with me and ALL my questions—trust me I had a lot of them. They really helped me educated myself. They were there when I had opposition from my own family and encouraged me this was about me and NOT them. By asking ALL MY questions I felt very comfortable with my choice. I am not saying I wasn’t scared, and had all kinds of feelings and emotions before I went to Mexicali, because I had the very same ones that most of you have had before you had your surgery. It was MY choice to go alone and I did great and knew I was going to be OK going alone and I was—that might not be for everyone, but it was what worked for me.

I learned so much through this process and I wanted to give something back to the “newbies" who were coming along behind me. I have 3 years of experience behind me and some valuable information I think.^_^

I can only talk about “MY" experience and tell people what I know from my own experience and the education I got before, after and during my 14 months it took me to lose 105 pounds.

I am retired, I do have the time to answer people’s question and say what I know. I do this because I want to pay it forward and give back ALL that I got from the people ahead of me.

I want YOU to be successful with your weight loss. I want YOU to have ALL the information from as many people on this board as it takes before you make a choice of what kind of weight loss surgery you are going to have and where you are going to have it. :D

Topic: RE: Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital and Medical Center
The 1st  step I did was called my insurance company and see what was covered.  I qualified for all of it except for seeing my DR once a month for 6 months of supervised visits. Have any of you had this requirement?

The Representative on the phone let me know that Legacy was one of the highest approved facilty of thier company and that place would benefit me most.  So.. what do I do now? Contact legacy? I made an appointment with my primary Dr here in the next week. To start the 6 months supervised visits. But I was wondering if we can pass that with a one of the surgical physicians request?

Any suggestions?

Christina

It's been a long time since I've posted on this board.  I jumped through all the hoops to get a revision last year but my insurance company  (Aetna) still denied me even though the surgery is covered on my plan and is not listed as an exclusion.   My primary care doc feels it may not be legal for them to deny coverage for a surgery that is not on the list of excluded procedures and recommended that I contact the Consumer Protection Department of the Oregon State Insurance Division.  I wrote them a letter today.  There still may be hope! Cross your fingers for me!

Topic: RE: one week post op
I had lap RNY in October 2010 and I was amazed at how "easy" it was. Had surgery on Friday and was back to work on Wednesday.

I've had no serious complications and reached my goal weight in less than 6 months. My biggest problem now is making sure I don't drop more weight. My focus now is on getting toned.

I'd really encourage you to stick to a good post-op diet. My docs recommend 70% protein in-take per "meal" and 30% vegetables. I've didn't have potatos, rice, or breads for 6 months. I now only eat them about once a month. Don't miss them at all.

Best of luck and let us know your progress.

Glad you're feeling well.  What type of surgery did you have?  I'm an old RNY survivor.  Will be four years in just a couple of weeks.

Topic: OH Conference in Bellevue, WA, July 15 & 16
Hi all!

I just want to remind everyone that the OH Conference is in Bellevue next month.  Check out the itinerary and list of guest speakers by going to Community on the blue banner above, Events/Seattle.

I went 2 years ago when I was newly post op and it was an amazing source of information for pre and post op patients.  It was also a ton of fun!

Saturday is the main event  so if you can't make Friday, try for Saturday.  Your admission gives you in and out access for both days.

I especially enjoyed the breakout sessions that cover everything from plastic surgery, revisions, exercise, nutrition and a variety of other topics.

I hope to see you there!
