 Hi calimal,

I do not know if they still meet there.  Do you live in Beaverton?  I am now out in Hillsboro but would enjoy meeting others out here who have had surgery.  I had lapband 3 years ago now.  How about you?

Topic: Checking in
Hi Everyone,

I am just checking in with everyone to see how everyone is doing?  If you are sitting out there on the fence waiting to have WLS, I am saying go for it.  The longer you wait the more days of your life you are giving away.

I am coming up on 3 years ago that I had WLS in Mexicali with Dr. Aceves.  I have NO regrets.  I was a self pay because the insurance I had would NOT pay for any kind of WLS.

I had a lot of questions and found the people that are on these boards to be so very helpful.  It was the very best thing I have ever done for myself.

My husband and I are going to Europe for a vacation.  I feel so healthy and in good physical shape, I am sure we will have a great time.  I will be checking in while we are gone to see how everyone is doing.  We have never been before.  We are going for a month.  We are going to 8 different countries and taking a cruise for 7 days.

I just want you to know that I love my sleeve and you too can be as successful as I am.  I never feel deprived when it comes to eating.  I eat healthy now and love my new found health.

Hugs,
Suzanne

I am 11 1/2 months out from surgery and have hit my goal weight and lost 123 lbs now. 98 of that since my surgery 10-1-10. I have loved working with OWLS and I had no complications. I love the new life my RNY gave me!

You can visit my blog to read more about my journey at www.cassandracooper.com

The 6 months seems so long, but really I was so thankful for the time to prep myself for the journey that was ahead.

Thanks so much for the post on Legacy. I'm moving to Portland this week and Legacy is the only WLS in Portland that's on my insurance program.

Looking forward to getting involved in OWLS. Although I'm 11 months post-op, I still enjoy the support groups and keeping focused on lifestyle changes.

My current doctor told me that Dr. Patterson is one of the best.

Dr Patterson requires a 3 day liquid diet prior to surgery with no bowle clense.  I had a hard time with it on the third day but by the time I got to that point I wasn't screwing up - no way- and for someone who rarely eats hamburgers - I really wanted one.  Post surgery no real cravings and I have not had a hard time with the liquid requirements either.  I mean it is open to yogurt and cottage cheese and tomato soup I even bought potato soup to put through the blender and have not had the desire for that either.  I think I am doing well and just a couple of days left of pain medication and I should be a little sore and brused feeling but that is all I expect.

I believe our minds can play hardball when we tell it  "it can't have somethng!"  I have told myself that long enought that I am good with it.

I wish you well.  Legacy Weight Loss is right there with OWLS and I believe even share the post op group sessions/meetings.

I still have to have my sleeping test. And the darn 6 months supervision that my insurance requires.  I'm hoping I'm not doing all these things in vain. I really need it. Oh, and I have heard of OWLS.

About what your going through. I would except some throwing up due to the fact we have to get use to our small pouch. But when it comes to your dairy, do you have to drink it. I'm not so sure that I could handle seeing the curdles. I've read that almond milk is OK to drink. I've had some before. It doesn't taste that bad.

One of the things that I'm a little afraid of it is the liquid diet. How are you handling that? And..another thing that I've heard is that,it's common for hunger and appetite to slow down for 6-12 months. How are you doing in that?
