Topic: RE: HI, Im a Newbie In PDX metro area, Dr. Patterson anyone?
Dr. Patterson is a very skilled surgeon and she did my procedure on July 9th. She is very professional and fairly blunt, so don't expect warm and very compassionate bedside manner. Which is fine for me, but not for everyone I am sure. I really has no issues with clinic and I can relate to the emotional issues with talking to the dietician.

As for the next 6 months, I am sure she will be wanting you to loose some weight, not to mention there may or may not be a component required by insurance. The biggest advice I can give you is do not stress, follow the clinics instructions and start going to the support group meetings. Its also very important to follow the clinics diet plan, it will help you prepare for even a more restricted diet after surgery. Also start logging your food on a food tracker website, so that you can start being accountable to yourself and understand what is going into your body.

In my sitation my biggest regret is I didn't start the support group pre-op and now I wish I had, so as I would have someone to talk to during some of the more emotional days post-op.

If you want more info, just email me thru the website

My surgeon is Emma Patterson, I got all my testing done and Im just waiting for the call to start seeing the surgeon, I have to see her once a month for 6mos per my insurance (CIGNA) so im excited and nervous. I started to cry when I saw the dietician ( who I adored) I just got so emotional talking about my eating issues and the fact that I never thought I would be in this position but thankful I am able to have this done. So anyone who sees Dr. Patterson, Can you give me an Idea what will happen in the months to come? Do you find her easy to talk to? Thanks so much.

Hello,
I'm Yoli. I was scheduled to have surgery last November but I chickened out. I just started my pre-op diet; I have 28 lbs to lose before surgery. I hope to have this accomplished by October, fingers crossed.

I live in Portland, OR and I'm working hard to discover new hobbies that don't center around food.

Whoo Hoo!  Look at us go. LOL  Thanks for responding.  I'm getting a little more excited now that my date is almost here... Lots to do to prepare at home and I am trying to train a lady at work to take over for me while I'm out.  I'm really looking forward to sleeping in a bit.

Hi,

Topic: Ready, set....
I'm all set for surgery on the 21st.  I was worried about a recent weight gain because the fine print of my paperwork says surgery may be cancelled if you gain...  Anyway, had my pre-op stuff all done today and am SO ready to get this done!

Topic: RE: Come on OR WLS peeps!
I haven't done anything yet, except...I found a way to download videos off of youtube and I amcurrently burning myself a dvd of some fun looking excersize videos.  Zumba, hip-hop cardio and core rhythm.  I love to dance, so I am actually very excited.
Congrats to you on your walk.  Man, it will be nice to not be so incredibly self concious and get out of the house.  I know it wont happen immediately, but even 20 lbs from now I know I will feel so much better.
My surgery will be in Coos Bay with Dr. Tersigni. He has Bay Bariatrics here and it is quite a big deal, apparently.  I'm lucky he is here in town and I dont have to travel.  Honestly, for as fat and lazy as I am, I could walk to the hospital, it's that close!
